Want to leave Talk Talk but O2 saying they will charge me to move to their service

Hi,

I saw that O2 are doing a half price broadband for six month deal to O2 customers who have been with them over 2 years if they join up to broadband with them. I also noticed that Quidco are offering £100 cashback on the package I wanted to use. I was all set to move over but when I called O2 I was told that as I'm with Talk Talk, O2 have to charge me £40 to move over to them. As Quidco cashback is never guaranteed, I'm a little unsure what to do now. Does anyone know what this charge is really for, and does this have anything to do with the MAC codes that everyone is saying about on the forums or are they two completely different things?

The O2 guy also said that if I asked Talk Talk to close my account with them that they'll charge me £100 to leave them (I am out of my 24 month contract but he said it's something to do with equipment).

I'm very confused and if all the above is true I'm angry that they can charge you to leave or move when you've fulfilled your contract!

Thanks so much in advance,

Louise:eek:

It's because TT will have LLU'd your line, and a direct LLU to LLU transfer is more difficult, if it's possible at all. O2 may simply install a new line and move your number over to it instead.
TT will only charge you if you are still within your minimum term.
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)

Im sorry to say he is right.... LLU to LLU is very easy to do but it does involve what most companies call a new line provide.
This does not mean a visit from any one but does take a little longer for you to get set up
