i got a phone call from Virgin Media a couple of days ago wanting me to upgrade to 30mb.
for this i'd pay an extra £4 per month and i'd pay for the new hub [or whatever it's called] but can't remember the price for that.
they said something about being on "10mb uplift" so i don't actually get 10mb.
!!!!!!? 10mb is what i thought i was paying for!
i read something ages ago saying Virgin Media had announced it was offering a free upgrade to all its customers who use 10Mb, up to 20Mb and up to 50Mb services.
so how come it's not free?
can someone explain all this stuff to me?

I got the same phonecall a couple of weeks ago. I was on the 20 meg broadband original and they offered to upgrade me to 30 meg and the new superhub. They said I would only have to pay for the hub and would get the first 3 months of the new broadband speed free and I would still only pay what I was already paying on the 20 meg (waiting for the bill to come through to see if it is indeed free). I Installed the new hub last Friday and found the connection was very intermittent, kep cutting out and didnt seem very fast. I contacted their support and one of their advisers (for free) remotely accessed my laptop to change some settings about on my superhub to get the most out of it. That service certainly worked as on speedtest I am now getting 30 meg through an ethernet connection and 20 meg on a wireless connection which is more than acceptable.0 -

Ive never had any problems with that site and one of the virgin support staff used it remotely through my computer. I think it is the standard site that most people use0
