Ryanair - seating and safety!!!

did my 2p day trip to lubeck yesterday, excellent value. just a note of caution (dunno if anyone else has noted this) ryanair are blocking off first 6 rows on the plane and overwing exit deats claiming that they are needed to be clear for safe take off and landing.
so anyone thinking of booking prioroty boarding take heed that you will probably get the same seats as everyone else.
finally, worrying that ryainair are running the planes on such a shoestring they have to prevent people sitting on some areas of the plane for safety.
next stop Barcelona

if a plane is not full of passengers then the passengers are seated in various areas of the plane to level out the weight of the load they have to take into account the weight of the luggage load etc hmm think thats right! or maybe im losing the plot pmsl a glass of wine and im anyones lol"You have succeeded in life when all you really want is only what you really need"

Yep - think Tinkerbell is correct. Saw this on a flight to Barcelona recently - they stopped people sitting at the front and rear of the plane to prevent it being unevenly balanced from front to back. Non-budget airlines will do similar through there seat allocations - it just won't be as obvious as there will pe people all over the plane (but evenly spread out).0

Just got back from Valencia (2p) front 6 rows were blocked but overwing exit seats were not, why oh why do they play that awful canned applause when they arrive early at a destination?0

Your flight load must have been light, which is why they blocked off sections of aircraft. as tinkerbell said, its to level out the weights onboard - as well as to reduce time spent by cabin crew to attend passengers (think of it this way - time spent to attend every seat of the cabin (including cleaning at the end) or time spent on just a proportion of the aircraft with blocked off rows). Safety reason would have merely meant like having a clear way to the aircraft doors in case of emergency. if the flight was more booked up or full, then those seats would have been used without any problems or risks.
hope this helps

thats ok, just feel a bit sorry for those people paying extra hoping for a pick of seats only to find they had to sit next to me, elbows and all.
still anyway, got some bargain shoes, jacket and had a nice lunch!
got panicky last night on flight back when it got a bit wobbly and the emergeny floor and exit lights came on.0 -
lol chances of crashing mid air very small! the most likely time to crash are take off's and landings!
my ryanair days are well over though wouldnt work for them again!! "You have succeeded in life when all you really want is only what you really need"

I've flown to Canada often in the past few years and loads of times the plane has been less than half full. They always let people sit/sleep anywhere. Coming back from Orlando once there were 30 on the flight and we could sit anywhere too. Now I'm worried that the plane might have been off balance!:smileyhea "here, hare, here" :smileyhea0
