o2 second contract

Is it possible to take out a second contract with o2 before I cancel my existing one.

I've got two contracts with o2 at the moment. Am on 12 months free line rental with both (via cashback, so far, so good) and when I rang to order, they offered me two contracts, so I took one for me and one for my OH.
I think it depends on your credit rating not on whether you've already got a contract with them.

Yeah it is your credit rating that matters. I asked mobileshop before getting my 2nd o2 contract and was told that it depends on your credit record. I suppose that means you get credit checked each time which might be a problem for some people.
