Numbers - (1) check your meter before the heating comes on. (2) check your meter after an hour. Deduct (1) from (2) and you have the number of metered units used. Use the rate you pay to work out how much it cost.0 -
I have an oil boiler and with the cost of oil it costs me about £1.60 per hour of oil heat0

Unfortunately no, central heating isn't the same as some appliances, for example an electric fire with defined wattage settings or a washing machine which uses a set amount of watts per use. It's thermostatic and switches on and off to control the quantity of heat produced, giving widely different fuel consumptions. How much fuel it burns is a result of many factors about how fast your house loses the heat it's making (size, insulation and window size/type, are some factors), how efficient your boiler is (vary widely based on age and design) and the current weather conditions as well as the boiler/thermostat settings you're using.0 -
42
Strangely enough, that's the right answer. All you need are the correct units the 42 is measured in!
Berebr, as others have said and you appear to have completely ignored, it's impossible to say, or to give any near useful answer
.
If we guess that your boiler is 15kw, and that you're on gas, and gas costs you, on average, 4p/kwh, and that your boiler efficiency is 90%, then the maximum it could possibly cost you is 66p/h. The minimum it could cost you is 0p.
So, the answer is somewhere between 0p and 66p per hour using those guesses. There will also be provision for servicing, breakdowns and replacement to get a more accurate figure of the true cost.0 -
Without proper input from the OP this thread is futile. No free lunch, and no free laptop0

i wondered this same thing and when I thought about it came to the same conclusion, how long is a piece of string. Mainly, as with most condensing boilers mine modulates the burner to match the output needed, so even though my boiler is rated at 28kw, i'm pretty sure it is never running anywhere near that (the steam plume from the flue is being pushed out fast at startup whereas after about 20 mins it is just gently trickling out and floating upwards). Is this a fair assumption?
CC limits £26000
Long term CC debt £0
Total low rate loan debt £3000
Almost debt free feeling, priceless.
Ex money nightmare, learnt from my mistakes and never going back there again, in control of my finances for the first time in my adult life and it feels amazing.0
