I wonder if they will be accepting Tesco vouchers as an incentive to come in to the new shop?0

Called in today, busy but not chaotic, nice big store well laid out - BUT - no off licence! Legal challenge by competitors being considered by Judges and they hope to have one in February.

Sorry, don't know0

Apparently there were at least 3 objections to the Bangor store having an off licence, one was reportedly Tesco, one a homeowner, and one from an independant off licence. Cant confirm that, just gossip.0

Pretty standard practice existing stores challenging new licences. They're trying to protect their incomes but it rarely does more than delay the new licence.
A good few years ago in a large town near me, a friend's brother wanted to open a new off licence (A) and his licence was objected to by another established off sales business (B). It delayed the grant of the licence but that's all.
Roll on several years and yet another new off licence (C) was proposed, much closer to the premises at B than A. The owner of B then approaches the owner of A and asks him to join him in objecting to the opening of premises C.
A responded thus :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:0 -
I;ll try Sainsburys of course but Asda is the only store for bargains nowaday, wherever.0

Worth mentioning though that with Sainsbury's Brand Match you won't actually pay any more for branded stuff than you would at Tesco or Asda, provided you're spending over £20 etc.
(Sainsbury's employee here, bias perhaps but I do think Brand Match is a worthwhile endeavour.)0 -
The one bad thing about the new store is the car park, very poor layout and tight. I also get the impression that the staff occupy many of the spaces nearest the store?0
