    Hi

Can anyone tell me what the legal requirements are for office facilities? I understand that your employer has to provide drinking water, toilets with hot water for hand washing but what about an area for making hot drinks/preparing food.

My company is looking to relocate to cheaper offices. The preferred choice has no kitchen or teapoint (so no drinking water). I've probably been spoilt in previous offices but not being able to make a cup of tea just seems unthinkable!! I also like to bring my lunch in and keep it in a fridge but I suspect this is asking too much!

Oh come off it! You're going to work, not cooking with Fanny Craddock.

You're better off than some, like road diggers, they take a dump in the hole they dig.

17p for two litres isn't expensive.
why buy it when it's in the tap?
  • well if it's in the tap why did you ask where they get the drinking water from?

    It's free at my place.

I seem to wash up over 100 cups twice a day though. When the coffee is free there is always another problem where tea and coffee is concerned!

the thought of not having it is much worse than the reality of not having it.
no it's not, we'd practically run out of 'my' teabags on Monday and there was no way I could last until lunchtime! :rotfl:

If the water in the toilets is drinking water, does another supply have to be provided?
Signature removed for peace of mind

They do indeed - and the tap that is providing drinking water should not be in the toilet.

What a miserable company the op works for. I expect a minimum of tea/coffee/herbal teas/milk/sugar to be supplied free of charge and in the past i have left one job because they changed the coffee to maxwell house.

    :eek::eek::eek:

And if they changed it to 'Brand X' I would have gone for constructive dismissal!

I would get a little travel kettle, take a mug in and rinse it in the cold drinking water between fills, taking it home each evening to wash properly.

Take a flask to work, sorted.

It's so simple and so obvious really.
