yes, the labour party did indeed do wonders for the NHS while they were in power, and that is partly the reason I went back. I remember when ops were routinely cancelled, no/broken equipment, no staff, in short, chaos. They pumped money in which was desperately required for the benefit of all in this country.

Whether or not the record is broken, it plays a true rendition of what happened in the 80s, the social problems in this country have become so entrenched, that despite trying, Labour could not repair all the damage done. The did try but were accused of spending too much.

Rather public Sector attitude, that the only way to improve things is to spend more money.

Some recent experience I have had with the NHS showed an incredible waste of time a money, purely down to sloppy admin. That costs nothing to improve if you just sack the people that make mistakes and take on others that are more capable.

There is no excuse for 5 separate aborted consultations with a highly paid consultant that could not be done due to either the records not being there, or the wrong ones being supplied.
probably cost hundreds at least, but I would be very surprised if anybody took resposibility.

Since the private sector costs way more than the public the country could not afford to privatise everything

Evidently, the country can't afford everything to be publicly run either :p

I did state I wasn't advocating privatisation, you even quoted me on that. The benefit with it being publicly run is economy of scale, it can buy loads of goods cheaply and have lower overheads. It can also waste vast amounts of money too, as J I M has mentioned.

Admittedly there is a heck of lot of red tape and beauracy within the NHS. I too often feel that the bosses forget that's it's supposed to a vital public service, they seem to behave like it's purely a business. Obscene amount of time effort & money is wasted on trying to look good instead of actually being good.

Cannot see the unions making much of a fuss about that though. Most of those involved are their members.

The sooner the private sector is allowed to run Government services the better.
I was for many years completely apposed to this but have been convinced over the last decade or so that public services of all kind can not deliver the services we can afford.
Public ownership of these services has proven a failure, give the private sector a chance. They can't be worse than what we have got at the moment.
Militant Government workers striking on Wednesday should remember what happened to the car workers who used to hold this country to ransom in the past.
Today's car worker cares about their product, works in an efficient organisation producing what the public want.
There will be no Brexit dividend for Britain.

Agree 100%, when people talk about the NHS being the crown jewel and Britain's proudest establishment I wonder if they are looking at the same hospitals I see. I look and prey to god that if I do become ill I will have enough money to seek private care.

Look how the ex public services with protected highly inflated wages such as in the rail, post and underground no wonder its so expensive to use but also upgrade. If the private sector run these opperations without the militant workers and their union chums we would all be far better off.

Odd how they can get someone in cheaper than using their own people. What does that tell you?
