Getting a PAC Number From Orange
Hi,
I called Orange and asked for my PAC number.
After holding for about 45 minutes and then getting through to the call center in India, then spending another 15 Minutes being transferred from department to department, who all wanted to know why I wanted the PAC I was finally told it would be posted to me and would take 4-5 days. Second class post obviously.
They could easily have given me the number over the phone, I had already answered all the security questions or texted or emailed the number.
Are they entitled to use these delaying tactics and has anyone else had a similar experience?
Axel

different networks have different systems to how they send out a PAC code. i have known orange to send the PAC as a text message instantly. i suppose it depends on the person on the other end of the phone
try again and see whether they can send it as a text because you need this asap due to using your phone for work. they might do it then
give it a try0 -

My initial reaction is they are messing you around.
Last April I asked Orange to match a contract deal that I could get from O2 & they couldnt. I asked them for my PAC number to be sent & within seconds it was on my phone.
I would do as already been suggested & ring up again & ask for it again. I think it depaends on who you get on the phone as to what reaction you get.
If you're still not happy ask to speak to a manager

No letter after 6 called them, they gave the PAC over the phone.
If you have trouble with any telco, mension you are thinking of raising the matter with OFCOM. Raise the matter with the regulator, you usually get a call from the TELCO the SAME daySeth.0 -
Hi,
Telephoned again this evening, 35 minute wait, and advised by an English, operator, first time ever, that they do not have and cannot even see the PAC numbers.
Orange apparently changed their policy about one month ago and stopped telephone operators from seeing and giving out PAC numbers. They are only issued by letter, obviously second class, which takes about 5 working days, meaning one week!
The operator was very apologetic and agreed that the idea was to make it as difficult as possible to get your PAC number, change networks and take your number with you.
I have never experienced any company anywhere with such dreadful customer service and such a disgusting attitude to it's customers as Orange.

I called them 2 days ago, said I wanted to cancel and they gave me the code on the phone, took about 2 mins.
Suggest you call again on 150 from ya mobile, choose the option to cancel and they'll give it to you there and then0 -
When I cancelled last week it was so easy. Didn't even try to keep my service, possibly because I haven't really spent more then 10p all year over my allowances, but hey, I prefer it this way!0

Phoned for Pac code on Saturday & was told it would be in the post within 3-7 days, but could only be 2.0
