Thanks to all. I've had a chat with OH and we've agreed that future big spends will be saved for in separate pots. The proof will be in the pudding I suppose, but he does seem to understand. So I will move on and enjoy the tv!
I'll be doing our shopping list once we've got through a few
more of the leftovers. I'm sort of looking forward to getting a bit of normality back post-Christmas (though not the going back to work or the diet!)

Grrr just lost a big post. Doing fine for December but this is because a) we were invited to lovely family for the festive period and although I took food and wine I know they would have spent lots in comparison and b) I have had about 4 whoopsie hauls which have helped enormously.
Meal plans have gone a bit flaky but sausage pasta today, roast tomorrow and fish pie thurs.

Thanks Tigerfeet, I would agree about £350 at the momentbut a fair bit of mismanagement and therefore waste and a lot more meat and fatty/snacky foods than we need as I run but am still 1.5st overweight. I would be happy with lots of crudites and veg soups with one big meal per week such as a roast or a spag bol/cottage pie for leftovers but hubby is a bit of a foodie. He has agreed (also wants to lose weight!) to trying a much simpler diet for 6 months and we will detox until the end of Feb and we spend a fair bit on wine every week (say 4 bottles or more if we have people over or go out!) I think I will aim for £250 in January even including my Birthday lol!DMP started Oct '17: £79,974 :eek::eek::eek::eek:0

I've had a rubbish December, so am already planning for January - I have GOT to cut down what I spend and spend that more wisely!
I'm going to tie in with the not wasting food challenge as well, so will spend the last few days of this month planning, writing lists, doing a stocktake like a dervish!
So far I've overspent by about £60, and a couple more days to go - need to buy a few things but shouldn't have to spend more than about £20. Will declare final total when I've shopped on New Year's Eve.
Hope you've all had a better month/year than me - I'm going to try really hard next year - even got a couple of cheap notebooks to keep in the car and my handbag to write down every blessed penny as the bu99ers keep slipping out of my grasp!

Nothing spent yesterday. Went to FIL's for dinner yesterday and came home with a lump of gammon. So we will have that sliced and warmed through with grilled pineapple and tomato, veg and mash (possibley cheesy mash).
Hopefully be a no spend day today as well.BSCno.87The only stupid question is an unasked oneLoving life as a Kernow Hippy0 -
Oh dear. I have just done the tally up with receipts. I have overspent by £77.72 this month largely due to overshopping in the first week. I didn't do a cupboard and freezer stocktake before I went shopping and I think that this has a lot to do with it. I have updated my signature and am about to go and sign in to the January challenge. I have learned that doing a rough plan for the month, after a cupboard and freezer stocktake is the best way for me to keep on track. I will do that and will definitely stay on track in 2012. Good luck to all and good wishes for a money saving 2012.0
