Just a quick update to declare a small shop of 1.27 on vinegar and bicarb yesterday. Not really GC as I had to buy these to get rid of petrol smell in the car (had a spillage over a week ago and the smell is still lingering
). Not done this before but hopefully it'll work.
Being at work all the time isn't that bad after all, at least it's keeping me away from the shops!:jBaby girl born 3rd October 2012:j0 -
might be worth making a list of what stuff you already have, you might be suprised, i could live for several months from mine if i could just resist a bargain and hubbys moaning for shop bought bread, and resigned myself to my kids not havings fresh fruit (i would never do this unless i acually had no money tho and it would be a last resort, there would be an uproar if there was no fruit lol), if your struggling for ideas post your list on here and we can all help
Well I've just done my shopping list for the weekend and checked Asda prices and it's coming in about £15 which is good, about £5 to play with there if I need to add anything in the next few days - might need a few extra things for OH's lunches. I have a £1.33 off voucher as well which is useful. My main problem is stopping OH putting extra bits in the trolley, unfortunately I can't leave him at home becuase I need him to help carry stuff, otherwise I have to get a taxi which negates any savings I make!
I just want to keep the next two shops down so we can get something nice to eat for Hogmanay really! Just need to be extra-organised and very strict. We're both away over Christmas which helps.February Grocery Challenge - £100.87/£180February Don't Throw Food Away Challenge - £0.60/£1.500 -

Yesterday was shopping day - Spent a total of £50.29 between MrT and Lidl. I'm going to Iceland tomorrow so my mum can push the pushchair while I take the trolley and get a delivery done (never done that before so that'll be exciting!). I also need to get a joint of gammon for dinner on Sunday, can't believe how expensive gammon is now - a small joint was £10 in MrT!!! so I'll stop off at the butchers and get a joint from there instead. Currently at £202 of my budget with another 2 shopping days to go before payday, so well on track to come in under budget (phew!).Clean credit file:12 mthsCar loan: FREE! :jTHE PLAN: 1.Pay off debt £8808.42(£3254.45, £1570.32, £2698.33, £0:dance:, £1000, £285.32) 2.Save monthly for Christmas/insurance etc £150 per month 3.Save for emergencies /£1500 4.Save for our B&B £????depends which one takes our fancy0

Yesterday I made turkey burgers and veg and cheesy mash. Did the kids dinner and put the mince in the fridge for DH to do his when he came home so they would be fresh. Wish I had done his now as he used somuch I am having to revise today's dinner. Was gong to add carrots and peas and mash up some pumpkin and mix it with the left over mash and have a pie type thing but DH used so much mince there was not enough left and he left the lo mash out grr!
So I have bunged a tin of tomatoes in the SC with a dollop of tomato pur!e and a few cloves of garlic and then made the mince mixture into little balls and bunged them in with the pumpkin. Will most likely serve it with pasta peas and sweetcorn.
The burger mix if any one is interested was 700g turkey mince, 2 slices of GF bread (probably equivalent to a slice of ordinary bread), 2 onions, a tsp of thyme and the zest of a lemon. Shape into burgers in the palm of your hand and cook on a griddle pan.BSCno.87The only stupid question is an unasked oneLoving life as a Kernow Hippy0 -
Well thumbs up all round for dinner, so I am happy. Though a plate ended up across the floor so there is none for DH.
We are having early dinner as the two youngest have to be back at school for nativity tonight by 5.30. DH and FIL are going tonight and ian taking DC1 to a mincepie evening at the church. We will go to the nativity tomorrow night. DC3 is not well, he has a bad cough and a snotty nose so I am trying to get him through the next two nights and then he can stay home, he is determined not to miss his first school nativity, bless him.BSCno.87The only stupid question is an unasked oneLoving life as a Kernow Hippy0 -
Oooh, this is so much harder to do than I expected. First month on GC, and set myself a (now) too ambitious target. I need to get to the 19th, and only have £20.42 left.
I was visiting my mum yesterday and took advantage of the chinese supermarket while I was there, so stocked up on white vinegar (2.35 for 5l), pancakes for crispy duck, samosa pastry, prawns, noodles and sauces. Still came to £33.43, but the cupboards are filled up. I also went to the farm shop for veg and spent an extra £5 on smoked salmon that DH loves and we haven't had it for ever.
Dinner was fish chowder from River Cottage Everyday, uses pollack (frozen from Lidl), one potato, leeks and half a celeriac. I had LO for lunch today.
Tonight I am out for a mums night, so DH can have quiche from freezer with baked potato. DS is at friend's for tea.
Should only need milk, yoghurt, fruit and veg till 19th, so fingers crossed.Debt free and saving :j0 -
