How can i hide my folder/files?

On my old XP machine i used to use a program called magical folder which i obtained from a website downloadsmachine.co.uk which no longer exist. It used to make the folder invisible unless you put in your password.

This software does not work on windows 7. Can you recommend a replacement?

Well if you want to hide stuff (preferably a folder to hide stuff in ) you can do the following:

1. Create a new folder.
2. Rename the folder and while doing so keep ALT pressed while typing the following on the numerical pad (not the number at the top of the keyboard): ALT+0160
3. Press Enter/Return. You'll see the folder is now nameless.
4. Right click the folder and go to Properties
5. Go to Customise
6. Go to Change Icon (at the bottom)
7. Choose one of the icons with no picture. Press OK.
The folder is now invisible unless you highlight it.
8. As has been mentioned, use Truecrypt or Bitlocker (if you have Windows Ultimate) to encrypt the invisible folder and there you have it.

No need for a rip-off software like the one you mentioned, when there are free ones out there already.

Get yourself truecrypt , it's free and works on Windows/Linux and I dare say iOS(guesswork there tho) and you can use it on Sticks too.

I found the magical folder useful. It enabled me to 'hide' the files on my memory stick. Personal stuff . Unfortunately it does not work on windows 7

So it is a toss between truecrypt and 'free hide folder'

Might be but works fine on my windows 7 computer.
