Can I open a cash isa?

I have a cash isa opened in 05-06 tax year, so far this tax year 06-07 I have put in about £500. Can I open a cash isa for this year and put in the other £2500 of my allowance.

My current isa is with A&L paying 4.75% it was Martin's top isa when I opened it but it now seems to be dragging some way behind.

I know you can't open two in one tax year but this is a slightly different scenario.
£2.00 Savers Club = £34.00 So Far

+ however may £2 coins I have saved in my Terramundi since 2000.

Terramundi weighs 8lb 5oz

  • Simple answer = NO you can't open or inveist in more than one per yr (transfers aside)
more detailed = only if you TRANSFER (not close) the first ISA then add to it.
Alternative = wait till April then open one in 07/08 yr and leave the other one to sit and gain interest (but you can do better than A&L so consider the transfer)
