Well that makes it alright then! You'd be happy for someone on a low income to shill bid but not a millionaire. Well that's not hypocritical at all, much.

    SC

I never said i was happy for someone to shill bid on a low income so do try to read what i put.

I said i may of understood it a little , do i agree with shill bidding... no i don't ...but it happens and hence obviously it is upto people to take the risk or not.

Do you shill bid?? as you seem quite defensive about all this and you failed to comment on Quote i gave regarding the matter of the so called antiquities as this is what i original meant by conning people, but then i guess you don't find this trying to con people either?

Well, fact is shill bidding is illegal.

No, because the items I sell are BIN. If I sold my items as a normal auction then the answer may be different. Like I said before, it's not affecting anyone other than Ebay's item listing percentage cut and I don't knock anyone for trying to save a few quid in listing fees.

That is a subject completely unrelated. I am not experienced enough to comment on the authenticity of the items that he was selling, hence why I didn't comment.

there are lots of worse things that are illegal on ebay and they do sod all about that either

its not nice, but as sc says, you don't have to bid higher if you dont want to, whereas there are many many people daily on ebay who are conned into buying items that dont exist, or a picture of the item not the real item, or to ship their own items to nigeria.

maybe ebay should sort out the real con artists first, before working on the 'nice to haves'

also have the times got nothing better to do? exposing a shill bidder on ebay - oh the horror! - its great that we live in such a problem free world that this is the biggest scam that they could uncover!

What next 'Cornershop short changed me by 2p!'

Bragging to anyone (let alone a reporter) about how you or your associates are shill bidding on eBay is stupid especially when you dig deeper. A little online detective work reveals that Dr. Eftis Paraskevaides has built himself quite a reputation over the past few years:

You can still view his former eBay store items before they abruptly end on 27 January. Seems the eBay investigation into Paraskevaides came to a conclusion as he's now NARU.

I dont really see anything wrong with shill bidding... just bid what the items worth to yourself. If shill bidding was banned then more items would have reserves or higher start prices so its 6 and half a dozen really.

Yes its immoral but its the oldest trick in the book.

Shield bidding is a bit more craftier however.

The Times most likely wouldn't have bothered had not eBay decided that it's just not worth its time, responding to all those tiresome souls who used to complain to it about shillers.

So to solve the problem of shilling on eBay, it has made the reporting of shilling well-nigh impossible.

Doubtless you and snooze agree that this was a major step forward in ensuring the openness and honesty of eBay trading. Just as you appear to agree that fraud and deceit are A Good Thing.
