I dunno, you just have a knack for it depending on the language used - it was this line for me 'is was expecting free chocolate for a year or something' - the way it was written just implies that he was not being serious given how outlandish and unlikely it was
either way i think he has confirmed he was somewhat jesting now anyway.
i think some of you lot have compensation on the brain!
He said he was joking about the years supply of chocolate. Not the "a tenner is that it?" part. And even without the years supply of chocolate line, gives the impression he wanted and expected a lot more.
If he didnt, was joking about that too and was happy with what he got then yes, he is a troll. Else why post what he did, where he did other than to get a reaction?
I've said it before and I'll say it again. Its far too easy to misinterpret what someone says on the internet. You cant see their facial expressions/body language and you cant hear the tone of their voice. So the intention behind the words is subjective quite often. You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means - Inigo Montoya, The Princess Bride0

I agree, the second anyone mentions compensation, a lot of posters on here turn wild.
I believe that sometimes companies should call goodwill gestures compensation, sometimes mistakes cause people a lot of grief.0

If the OP had bitten into it and broken a tooth then compo would certainly have been due. But it didn't happen so it wasn't. 0 0

And sometimes they don't - should they still be handed oodles of free cash for their "troubles" of finding a bit of hard cocoa in a bar of chocolate?Thinking critically since 1996....0

If he followed your advice he'd soon be eating out of date chocolate. He'd want compensation from you for that!0
