Bryan Carter solicitors debt help.
Hi all, wondering if anyone has any advice for me.
I received a call from Bryan Carter solicitors about a debt i apparently owe them, it was from a phone contract taken out with the carphone warehouse in 2004. Havent used the phone for years so cant remember too much, but from talking to the above company they say the last payment was in Jan 2008 and the account closed in june 2009. I have no recollection of this and any letters they would have sent me would have gone to an old address.
By browsing online forums this guy seems to have a bad reputation, so some advice would be good. they offered me reduced debt if i pay in 30 days. i intend to write and ask for a copy of the original contract , what else shoul i be doing?

This depends.
If the amount is not very big and you don't care about your credit history just keep ignoring them. They will keep chasing you but are unlikely to get a court order and send bailiffs.
If you do care and are sure that you cancelled the contract, don't pay and try sorting this out and having your credit files cleaned.
Otherwise pay them. As you don't remember much it looks like a typical story of a customer that have failed to cancel the contract and changed the address.0 -
Can they prove you made the payment in 2008, if not and the last payment was 2004 the debt will be statute barred, so I would be careful of acknowledging the debt.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
hello i am new to this site
I recieved a letter today at my parents from bryan Carter solicitors,
i have no idea how they got this address and all it says in the letter is can i contact them and tell them the ref number they have sent me.
as far as i am aware i dont have any debts or owe any one any money
,i have never recieved any ccjs letters at any address i have lived at or even any letters from anyone saying i owe them money.
I checked my credit rating not long back and i have nothing against my name.
i can remember i had a credit card when i was around 19
but that was well over 12 years ago.
I dont know what to do about the letter.

Just ignore it or call and ask what it is all about. Don't admit to any debts.0
