Blackberry - Orange PAYG
I have bought my son a Blackberry for Christmas, which he wants to replace his old Orange PAYG mobile. I'm not entirely clear how the monthly payment works on Orange PAYG Blackberry.
From reading some other threads on here I am wondering if the following scenario is correct:
If we top up £10 per month on the Dolphin Plan (giving 400 texts), we could then buy a Blackberry extra (taking £5 from our PAYG balance), then buy a PAYG extra from the £5 remaining balance giving 100 anytime mins per month. We could then use the Blackberry extra for web access as well as BBM.
Can anyone confirm if my understanding here is correct?

Yes, that would work.
It would leave a zero credit balance, so no non-inclusive calls would be possible - which I think includes voicemail as that is chargeable. Might be worth aiming to have a additional bit of credit "sitting" on the account for additional usage. The monthly £10 top up would always be immediately used up buying the £5 BBM extra and the £5 100 minute extra.0 -
You'll need to keep on top of your top-ups with Orange, they are a real PITA, they don't send any notification that your BB is about to expire and just disconnect the service if you don't have enough credit to pay for BB. You then have to phone to re-activate it and it can take up to 24hrs. My son has had enough, he's moving to Giffgaff this month.Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0

They send you a text a few days before your Blackberry service is due to stop working0

Not to my son they don't. Never have. They send a text when his Dolphin inclusive texts etc start, but he's never had a text about his BB.
My other son used to get a text on Virgin.Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0 -
Which is the best deal to get then for a teenager?“A budget is telling your money where to go instead of wondering where it went.” - Dave Ramsey0
