Excel Parking Charge Notice - to ignore?

I've read up all the information on this site about parking notices and there's some really good information!

I've had loads of council parking tickets, but normally I don't have a leg to stand on with these and end up paying them (it's a symptom of my job).
I once even got two tickets in two days PARKED OUTSIDE MY OWN HOUSE on double yellows during the snow season, which I appealed against but eventually I rolled over.

Now, this is my first one from a private firm 'Excel'

I drove into the empty car park to turn around my vehicle whilst my friend jumped out to go to the butchers. I waited about ten minutes in vehicle until my friend came back and drove off thinking nothing of it.

SO they got me on ANPR camera stating the time I arrived and left.

What I want to know is:

1) How do they know I didn't purchase a ticket? (no one came to ask me whilst I was there)

2) Are they likely to keep normal CCTV footage of my movements as well the ANPR

3) What is the maximum amount they could demand from me including court costs

Thanks

If you had read the information on here then you would know that you just ignore Excel. Stop taking them seriously. They are not the police or the council. They are just a tin-pot private company with no more right than you or me to demand money off people.
What part of "A whop bop-a-lu a whop bam boo" don't you understand?

Firstly, I don't know why you say you have no leg to stand on with any Council tickets. Even if you park in contravention, most people can find grounds for appeal if they know what points to appeal on and do not fold before adjudication (most peeps win who go that far). There are lots of other points to appeal on and no risk of costs - you only ever gamble all or nothing on the full penalty (non discounted).

Lots of Council paperwork & procedures drop them in it if the motorist takes it as far as adjudication. For instance Hounslow tickets on windscreens are flawed, some TFL moving traffic tickets are flawed, plenty of signs & lines are so bad you could win at appeal, and lots of Traffic Orders are duff.

Next time you get a Council ticket do your self a favour and put a pic of both sides of it on pepipoo.com forum:

    http://forums.pepipoo.com/index.php?showforum=30

Well over 90% of peeps on there win, have a read of some threads. You'll be surprised what people can successfully appeal on!

As to any fake PCN ('parking' charge notice), I do hope you mean you have read the current forum threads (not just Martin's old articles on this site)? Obviously just ignore it. Only ever take seriously a ticket from the Police, TFL or Council.

I you have not yet seen the letter-chain pics nor the Watchdog video, then just click on 'Parking Tickets, Fines & Parking' in the blue chain>link above to view current threads on this board.

You will see a top thread with PPC letters, showing you what to expect and ignore (in pictures). And you will see a sticky thread called 'welcome, please read before posting' which has a must-see Watchdog youtube clip.

Plus you will see all the current threads from today and yesterday, we get 20 or 30 new queries here every day. Have a look and see how many times we tell peeps to ignore any fake PCN from any private company.

Get familiar with the scam and get ready for a game of PPC snap with the debt collector letters - that's all you have to do! Court will not happen and it's just a scam, a fake PCN, so the questions you asked are not really needing direct answers.
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Nope. Assuming you're talking about the Freedom Bill, it'll be no different then. The tickets will be just as bogus, and just as easy to ignore. The liability may shift, but liability to what? In most cases, it's damages of zero, or maybe a pound or two for P&D car parks, but that's it.

It will make very little difference, as TST rightly says. Threatening one person with a scam (driver) or threatening two (driver and keeper) it can still be ignored as they still won't win in Court.

And under what law is anyone going to 'have to' recognise the BPA's planned appeals process? Not only are they not going to get it off the ground when the Freedoms Act comes in but if they ever do attempt to say they have such a procedure it will soon be exposed for what it is in the the national press and soundly ignored.

Well considering that the government is the group instigating this new power for PPCs, I think you can safely say that it won't be easy to ignore.

Face it, the government is hard up for cash (never changes even when there's plenty flowing) so they're looking for extra revenue. Tax is their revenue and when PPCs are able to extort more money from people legitimately..

With regards to excel you're fine for the time being. Forget about them (unless its a railway car park) and then move on with your life. When the bill for the protection of freedoms comes into force next year we'll all need to think again (what a stupid name for a bill thats designed to take away our freedoms).

O no we won't ! Same defences apply and in some ways a keeper is actually likely to be in a stronger position than an alleged driver.

See my reply to you in the other topic. It will become a tort of trespass which makes the contractual defence fly out of the window. Go and read it.

I don't agree with it, I think its a sneaky bit of legislation smokescreened through the door under the guise of the clamping ban. I think its dishonest, sneaky and dishonest but we did stop them having their expenses and now its payback time.

You can not sue someone for trespass you invite on to your land.
    Think again....
