Husband bought £30000 premium bonds in January, won nothing in Feb then won 2 x £ 50 in March, we will keep a check to see what happens over the year then might cash some in if not lucky.

I have won £3000 on £10000 but over about ten years. In the last twelve months I won £50 or £100 each month except for two. There was a financial writer in The Sunday Times who insisted that if you sell your bonds and then buy a new lot you will find you start winning. I couldn't be bothered doing this but, in any case, the odds of winning have lengthened since.

I've had £10 since I was born which has never won a prize.

I've also bought £50 each month by standing order for the past 9 months (along with some more sensible regular savings!), so I now have £460, and they haven't won me anything yet. I've just cancelled buying any new ones for the time being while I try and make best use of my ISA allowance and regular savers, but I'm happy to leave the existing ones there for now.

How do you know if you have won do they automatically send you a letter, or can you check online?

You can check online here :-

You will also be sent written notification in the form of a cheque for smaller wins or by MR X knocking at your door for the big one so make sure they have your correct address !!
Alternatively you will be sent new bonds (providing your under the £30K max) if you have asked for your winnings to be re-invested.

I was thinking of taking mine out in the next month or so as I hadn't won anything for a while. Got a cheque for £100 this week!

Parents came home from their holiday and dad had won twice - £100 and £50 but he's got more than double of mine as he reinvest's them.
