I did wonder that. Will have a play with sheets of paper in the car and see what would be best.

    Hmmm.
We do have a sun roof, but it doesn't work all that often. Had considered it in terms of placement (i.e. would have to fit the unit behind the sunroof) but hadn't considered it in terms of the sunroof sliding in.
Would be happy to give up the sunroof sliding (we've got air-con and, as I said, the sunroof doesn't often work) but are you saying it would still cause us a problem when fitting one of these units?

The car is old (S reg) and pretty worthless. We're planning on keeping it until it's good only for scrap (we're hoping for two more years). So don't mind if we ruin the ceiling cosmetically in fitting this.

These things are pretty permanent, so you have to consider the future. When you come to sell it, are you prepared to leave the unit in the car?

    ETA:

The other advantage of the portable units is that they can be used in any car you might have the use of. If you have to borrow a car because yours breaks down, for example, you can still have the advantage of using your DVD players in the other car.

Flexibility is a better option than something you cannot change.
The greater danger, for most of us, lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low and achieving our mark

    .

I'm guessing you use a PC? one of the 15" ones would be like having your average laptop hanging down so if you've got a laptop you'll get a pretty accurate result testing with that.

Although it'd be no different to driving a van if it blocks your view and you do have the option of tilting it, if needed.

Other advantage of roof screen is its easy to just tuck up out of sight when the car is left and the impression its permanent is some deterent if a thief spots it. The headrest screens really need taking off and hiding away if the car is going to be left as they will attract a break in if left on display.

Mine are integrated into the headrests physically (which will be a nightmare when the seats (edit: Drivers seat) are (is) knackered!

Most Galaxy/Alhambra/Sharan variants have dark windows, I know mine did, as due to the safety of my family (and nature of my job) I feel this is best!

    Hi all,

Thanks for all your help on this but I'm afraid that I've wasted your time.

We went through all the stuff that we've already bought for the kids for Christmas and we don't need anything else for them!

    Sorry!
