I really believe it is the shape of the baby that counts when finding a suitable nappy. I recall sitting at mums and tots with a group of other mums discussing nappies and they had all had an issue with pampers leaking and preferred huggies, whereas I had had the opposite experience. I looked at the shape of my son (at that point skinny) compared to the other kids being discussed who were 'chunkier' round the middle. Try asking the mum of someone of another child who is similar build to yours for her recommendations.
  • My kids are older now, but I found Morrisons own brand was far better than Pampers. They were much cheaper too.

You could be cheeky and email nappy manufacturers asking for a free sample :D. You never know, you might find the perfect nappy that way.

Is the nappy too big? Don't go on the weight sizes on the packet, poke your finger up the legs and round his middle and see how snug they feel.

I think my daughter was still in size 3 at that age. She seemed to be in size 3 forever and I know she'd just gone into size 4+ when she started toilet training after her second birthday.
Here I go again on my own....

  • My wee girl is the same age as your son and she has really chunky monkey thighs and I have had no problems with Tesco's Nappies green wrapping I forget now but think it's super fit.

I was like you, found Boot's own nappies awful for leakage
  • Have you tried Lidl own brand nappies? Personally I din't use their nappies but found their pull-ups to be fantastic when every other brand I tried leaked at night - and my ds is a chunk too :)

I would seriously recommend giving them a go, they're pretty well reviewed and cheaper than pampers/ huggies etc too.

    Good luck!

is he drinking alot of liquid before bed? maybe limit it after 6pm.

You shouldn't limit the amount a child drinks. At best it doesn't actually help with night-time wetting, at worst it leads to dehydration.

  • We are talking a LONG time ago, but had this problem with my son and used booster pads from Boots. Some people swear by Tesco own brand.
  • My DS is 5 now so the nappies might have changed since I last used them but with my DS I found Pampers awful. DS wasn't fat but I would say he did have little chunky legs.
Huggies I found were good (I know you said these aren't for you) but the best ones for us were Tesco - not the value ones, think they are called super fit or something like that, possibly in a yellow & green wrapper and Aldi's own make were equally good. Both were cheaper than the "branded" ones.
His morning nappies could be used for weightlifting they were that heavy, but as long as we used any of those 3 brands he didn't usually leak.

    Good luck

When you put a nappy on him, his willy is pointing down isn't it?

I've changed my little man in a rush before and wondered why the top of the nappy was soaking. I opened it and his willy was pointing upwards lol

I found Pampers best for chunky babies, and Huggies best for long slim babies.

How much does he have to drink?
