Phone around local garage's, The prices on their site for a mondeo are dearer than rapidfit.
So why would anyone risk their car going to an unknown garage with no idea of what brand of parts
they will use. And pay extra?Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
you'll need to have a word with the forum team before you can answer questions. Tucked deep down inside the forum rules that aren't easy to find and too boring to read; there's the following section http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/site/forum-faqs#companyrep0

Once the booking is made and the garage assigned how do you know what parts the garage actually use?
Yes it was ford's rapidfit. For some things they are quite cheap even without special deals.
Im too lazy to go backwards and forwards to compare deals, I look online at your price then their price and
go with the best. When i actually take it in i will ask for a discount also.
Doesnt hurt to ask.
I presume your prices are fixed once booked?
Finally i guess like the OP, I want to see upfront which garage you are going to book with.
Not halfway through booking or at the end of the booking process.
There is noway i would enter my details without seeing which garage 1st.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -

Hi everyone
Service Stop has asked us to post a response on its behalf. MSE doesn't endorse anything a company says on the Forum.
Crashtogether - Once a booking is made with Servicing Stop generally within 24 hours your booking is assigned to a garage on our network we would then email you a confirmation of the booking and this would include details of the garage carrying out the service.
forgotmyname - We use OE (Original Equipment) standard parts, making sure your warranty is protected at all times.Could you do with a Money Makeover?

MSE Andrea, Thanks for your response.
But ServiceStop dont actually do any work they contract the work out to garages in your area and they
cannot guarantee the garage fit OE parts.
Then can specify that OE parts are to be used but have no control over that. What if an OE part is unavailable
at the time, But an alterntive brand was available.
I have no experience of them, Only reviews off the internet, And we all know they need to be taken with a pinch
of salt.
Wont be the 1st time a garage fitted cheap parts and charge for genuine items. Chances are it will last just as long anyway.
I fitted a heater motor to an Audi, £60 or £80 from GSF, £400+ from the dealers. And it was the same manufacturer, Just supplied
in a plain box.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
Hi
Service Stop has asked us to make one more clarification.
We have contracts with the garages that state they are required to use OE standard parts and if they were unable to source an OE part as the aftermarket did not supply these then we would require them to fit a genuine part. This is a matter of which we are particularly stringent on with checks in place as using a non suitable part in the vehicle could affect your warranty.Could you do with a Money Makeover?

MSE Andrea, Not shooting the messenger or anything but what a load of rubbish..
Stringent checks in place??? Do they stand over the garage watching to see what parts they fit? I think not.
I have know main dealers buy a part from halfords... Because they couldnt source one in time through the dealer network.
OK its probably very rare, But it can and does happen. Im sure other dealers have sent staff to motor factors before now.
Not going to say anymore on the subject.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0
