  • For those of us who are engaged in competitive debt-busting, just a heads up that I get my £120 from freelancing work in tomorrow, and it's going to do some real good to my figures! I can also throw in a few CC min payment DD's and a loan payment for the car.

Debt - I'm coming to get you!
    DFW - DEBT FREEEEEE!

    Total - 10762/10762 :)

Every silver lining has its cloud.

Found out today I'm getting paid 5 days early this month. Getting paid on Friday so did a budget today and I'm on track to pay £1000 towards the debt this month:j

Also, Jans payday I'll have £160 extra to throw at the debts! That's because a work loan of £150 will finally be paid off plus I pay the last £10 to tmobile for a dongle (which I didn't even sign up for but that's another story). Going to throw that at my biggest debt which is a £4000ish credit card bill with barclaycard which is currently charging me around £60 interest a month
  • Just been paid and instead of buying stuff I don't need, I decided to pay off some debts - No presents for people this year either :)

    Total Unsecured Debt - Summer 2010 - £68244 / Summer 2011 - £57252 / Winter 2012 - £38495 / Winter 2013 - £21520 / Winter 2014 - £9342. / Summer 2015 - £0 - No Agreements, no payment plans, no settlements, no bankruptcy, just hard work.
  • Morning all!

Who has snow? I want it to stay away from us.

Had a cheque clear this morning so have paid £16.05 to my CC - which brings its balance under £2500 :j

Have payments from Paypal and Quidco hitting my account tomorrow so once I have paid that off I will have paid 1% of my debt. I know some of you are challenging each other to see who can get down to zero first, I think my own challenge will be how many days before Christmas I can be debt free. I love a challenge. :p

    My total is now £69.16/£7873.87

    Morning everyone!

Have paid £100 off a credit card today. Actually never meant to- had reduced the payment to minimum payment only as throwing money at other credit card first but forgot to cancel standing order- ooops. Have got a wee bit of extra money in that account so should be ok!

    My total is now.....

    #056 £1065.58/£9793.81

Am over the £1k point! Am so grateful to this thread, it has really giving me the motivation to clear this debt and without it, I'd probably be in more debt as wouldn't have managed Christmas too well!

Jakes- mum- can you PM me details about Swagbucks please? Am so intrigued!

  • Morning all,
To those of you who gave your opinions re the Champagne - thank you, I've decided to go with the chocolate covered strawberries. I nearly dropped a clanger last night - did an online shop at A*da to be delivered for my Boxing Day party and was delighted to get the delivery on the day...it was only after I'd checked out that I realised that I'd chosen the day AFTER the party :rotfl::rotfl: It would have been quite a sparse party without any food and drink.....too much MSE :T

I have realised that if I am to continue spending the really insane amount of money on Christmas that I do I really need to up my savings to around the £150 pcm level  I'm really not sure though because this would impact quite heavily on the budget and the amount I can send towards our debt! Perhaps I'd be better with a Christmas box like my mum used to do and set myself a mini challenge of buying something for the box throughout the year...I wonder what the best by date on alcohol is? We have a big party and the drink flows very freely because we have young adult ( 21, 19 and 15) children and their partners/friends plus nephews and nieces etc so the drinks bill seems to be ever increasing, this year the party has cost me about £200 - how does that compare with other people's? I'm going to sit down at the weekend and work out how much I had saved compared to how much I've spent - I know I've gone over budget just don't know by how much...on the plus side nothings gone on the credit cards :T

Have a good debt busting day

For christmas this year I have bought christmas presents for 13 out of 14 people, this includes DH, DS and DD and have spent £97.08. My sister wants a voucher toward a new hairdryer which will cost me £10 so I will lose my bet with DH :(. . . . though I have just emailed UKmums about the £50 vouchers I won on 22nd and havent recieved .. . . so if they come trhrough before cristmas im the WINNER!!!!

    morning debt busters *waves*

I'm sooo sleepy this morning, decided to move my room around (just moved) last night to give more floor space and by the time I was finished it was midnight eep. So no vampire diaries last night either *sob* and the jolly curtains fell down boooo!

sharronej have you considered buying the booze when it's on offer, or getting one of those cheap booze cruise to France offers hopping on the ferry, getting all the booze, driving back and storing it? Might save you a few bob. I also have a christmas box, I started it in October and if I hadn't done it I'd have no presents as this house move has spent all my pennies.

Welcome daisycat *waves* very happy to have you. Incidentally my mother once picked up a cat called Daisy, it was pure evil even managed to make out cantankerous cat look well mannered. But I'm sure you're absolutely lovely :)

Works xmas party tonight, so I'm giving blood in just over an hour... cheap date ;) not that I wasn't before. Will make sure I eat lots and lots of the buffet though, don't want to make an !!!! of myself.

    Happy debt busting everybody
