Why do you need a contract in the first place?
Sim-only contracts are easier to get if you buy a PAYG or sim-free phone. The cheapest phones are just about £10.

Think about this seriously. Instead of buying a flash phone and tying yourself up in a contract buy a nice PAYG from tesco for around £50 and let your son top up what he needs. If you can't afford a flash phone say no, just buy a good one instead and stop yourself getting into money problems.

Seriously seriously think about this, you don't mention the age of your son but my youngest has always wanted flash things and although it is tough saying no is the best way forward.
