3Mobile - Contract end
Hi there,
My 18 month contract ended with 3 mobile in September, and I am now wishting to move to Tesco mobile.
3 gave me a PAC number which expires 13/12/2011. My most recent billing period is up to 6/11/2011. 3Mobile state I have to give them 30 days notice prior to leaving (which I have done hence the 13th Dec PAC expiry date).
I am keen to get my new contract underway with Tesco, however I dont want to pay double during the 30 days notice period with 3Mobile.
Is there anyway to avoid double costs, or do I have to sit tight until lets say 10th Dec 2011, then set up the new contract invoking the PAC Code which I understand automatically cancels the contract with 3Mobile.
Any advice is greatly appreciated.
BTW I have tried to get a straight answer out of 3Mobile but that is quite pointless as their customer service is none existent.

In short, the answer is no.
I left 3 after just a month because of their terrible network coverage - especially since they've started turning off 2G in areas of "excellent"* coverage.
* = 3's definition anyway.
I requested a PAC code and they gave me 30 days notice from the date of the request. Even if you transfer your number within days of requesting a PAC code, you still pay 30 days notice.
The trouble comes when you can't access your bills online because the account has been cancelled (PAC code went through) and have to call them to find out how much you owe! They kept telling me to check online despite my number no longer existing on their network!
You may as well set up your Tesco contract now and apply your PAC code.0 -

A PAC is not a notice to cancel, your 30 days is how long the PAC is valid. Requesting a PAC override a notice of cancellation as the account has to be active fora PAC and number porting to work.
Whenever you use the PAC you'll be charged 30 days in leiu of notice so as has been said may as well use it ASAP and get it done.0
