Its not tescos mistake if the manufacturer have changed the specs either upgrade or downgrade.

its like buying a tin of heinz 440g tins of baked beans last week for £1 and this week you find they have changed to 330g for £1. this is not tescos fault is it.

Tesco's are selling the goods, it is their responsibilty.

Maybe not, but they are responsible for ensuring the product is as advertised and if like in ops case it is not then to offer a remedy.

But considering Tesco offer a 28 day no quibble returns policy, I don't understand all the fuss
  • Beat you, Zandoni :p
One important thing to remember is that when you get to the end of this sentence, you'll realise it's just my sig.

Of course it is Tesco's fault if you buy the product in their stores.

They aren't selling some secret lucky dip items where they have no idea what is being sold. They don't buy items at random and hope the manufacturer supplies something suitable.

In this case Tesco have retained the same catalogue number for a different product. Their decision, their fault.

(As an aside, in this case the manufacturer - Technika - is a Tesco own brand as well so it's not even like the manufacturer can have has changed spec without them knowing)
  • Whilst I can see it's annoying for the OP, it's not as though they have lost out by the member of staff pointing out that the spec has changed since the OP saw the description. They aren't denying that the spec has changed, and as long as they are prepared to offer a remedy then I don't really see what more anyone would want.

if the catalogue number is the same on the product of that which you purchased then this is an upgrade/downgrade by the manufacturer as the retailer will go off the SKU number of the product and if these are the same then they have supplied what was on their system.

this is not misleading as the store only supplieed what their system stated. it could of been a misprint on their site ( these things happen)

This seems to be a different product.

Changing the colour or the shape of the stand is possibly allowable. But this is a material change of the product.

We have a Technika television set in the kitchen. It's a 1080p, 19" with a built in DVD player. It cost one hundred and five pounds and has been working for three three years without any trouble. The picture quality reflects the price and is perfectly adequate for its purpose. It's not as good as my Vierra 42" plasma, but that cost me eight times as much.
