Are Tescos being deliberately misleading?

At the weekend I purchased a Technika 32-270 widescreen "full HD" 1080 LCD tv from Tesco Direct. This is stated on the order. When it arrived it said "HD ready" on the box. Thinking they had sent the wrong one I checked the catalogue number and found that they have now retained the catalogue number for a model which is only "HD ready". I rang customer service and was told that they were within their rights to change features without changing catalogue I think they have been deliberately misleading as I would not have ordered it if it had been advertised correctly.

Definitely not deliberately misleading if the features have recently been changed, but you should be able to return for a refund, putting you in thwe same position as you were before you purchased the TV.0

For the avoidance of confusion -
By HD ready are you saying that it only does either 720p or 1080i?0 -
As above. If you have documented proof of Full HD vs HD Ready then you can return at no cost under SOGA based on SNAD (Sold Not As Described) and Tesco are liable for returns costs. (If you returned under DSR then YOU would likely be liable for returns costs).
SOGA = Sale Of Goods Act
DSR = Distance Selling Regulations0 -

this is the same as most hi tech goods, TVs, PCs, Laptops, these change all the time, so at the time of printed to the time of purchase the features may have changed, this is not tesco misleading this is the manufacturer changing features.0 -

Features improving is fine but not if they go lower spec.0 -

if the catalogue number is the same on the product of that which you purchased then this is an upgrade/downgrade by the manufacturer as the retailer will go off the SKU number of the product and if these are the same then they have supplied what was on their system.
this is not misleading as the store only supplieed what their system stated. it could of been a misprint on their site ( these things happen)0 -

So you order a nice 2 litre car, when it arrives the manufacturer decides a 1.1 should now be fitted, would you be happy, of course not.
I doubt Tesco's were being deliberately misleading but they are very naughty not to put their hands up and apologise for their mistake.0 -

Its not tescos mistake if the manufacturer have changed the specs either upgrade or downgrade.
its like buying a tin of heinz 440g tins of baked beans last week for £1 and this week you find they have changed to 330g for £1. this is not tescos fault is it.0 -
No, but it IS Tesco's fault that they are not accepting responsibility when the OP's contract is with them.One important thing to remember is that when you get to the end of this sentence, you'll realise it's just my sig.0
