Or we could all chat about this up and coming Korean film star: http://www.koreanmovie.com/the_next_big_star_Topic_Post_175_1_1/

After all, we do all come to this forum to talk about completely different forums, don't we?

Seems to me that as they have been there for two years surely they should be expecting an increase at some point. After all it is only 6% ie 3% per year which is lower than inflation.

Yes but inflation has nothing to do with rent, its not a reason to increase rent just because "inflation is x%". Rent is determined by supply and demand, if my landlord asked to increase rent by 3% the first thing I'd do would be get on Rightmove and look for another place. If I couldnt fund anywhere cheaper then I'd consider it a fair increase.

Also it would only take a 3 week void period for the landlord to have lost a years worth of that extra £83, hardly worth it imo.
Faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity.

Inflation has everything to do with rent. Do you think maintenance costs are fixed? One rental rise in 24 months is a good deal for the renter.

I wish one of those four in the top right corner would do something about this moron and his sockies

He's only attention seeking. Not responding to any of his threads is a good start.

Well then you'd just have the Police and Courts to answer to.

Some landlords do not have that option.
  • Why are poeple starting threads about other threads, on other websites on top of that.

£33,600 paid out over 2 years rent and nothing to show for it. Nothing. Zilch. Zero. Nada.

And for the landlady: 2 years of mortgage interest payments of £35k (or interest plus lost opportunity) and nothing to show for it. Nothing. Zilch. Zero. Nada. Er hang on a minute, its a flat so she has probably made a capital loss.

Perhaps the landlady has a little money difficulty. That's the most common reason for ramping rents with a good tenant.

"Unbelievable. £1400p/m!!!! I know the phrase "renting is dead money" is a favourite around here for being shot down in flames (mostly for good reason), but come on, that's a massive amount of money!"

"There is a serious point here though about buying, despite the high prices we are facing, you could be making a real dent in a mortgage with 1400 a month, and if you were 5 years down the road at 1400 a month on a mortgage, would you care if you'd overpaid when you take into account the fact you won't be having to deal with cretins like this landlord?"

    "£1400 are you MAD!?"
