Bit unfair to comment when you haven't even tried it. The visuals are hugely improved. Very OS X, which isn't a bad thing. You can of course, completely disable them all and go back to the plain XP look. It only needs a high end computer if you're using all of the eye candy.kevinwj wrote:Lets just say that the first virus for Vista was written by an Austrian in............2005
It was in Alpha stages then, and the virus was only a proof of concept, and has been closed off."Boonowa tweepi, ha, ha."0 -

BarGin wrote:Also if I buy an OEM version will I be able to upgrage RC2 or will it need a clean install?
I first of all tried upgrading my rc2 version, it was fussy and went through all the actions and I ended up with it still running rc2, so I ended up formatting and starting a new.
You might be luckier.0 -

Just trying to get World Of Warcraft working within Linux.
I had Dapper Drake for a while on dual boot I was very impressed but I had to revert back to XP because some things were not supported by Linux but all in all its very good and I am very impressed by the community outhere aswell, I would though use it again very soon as its getting better by the week, also I was just wandering if you can boot on dual drives, meaning instead of a partition maybe just two HDD drives in a PC one with Linux the other with XP its just the boot options that may cause a problem :think:0 -
Yes j davies, you can do that if you go about it right.
I have Ubuntu as my primary OS.
I also have Windows 2000 installed on a separate (small) hard drive.
If I wish to use Windows, at boot up I hit F8 and specify to boot from that drive instead - otherwise it just boots from the Ubuntu drive automatically.
The knack is to install the second OS on the second HDD while the first HDD is disconnected. Then reconnect that first HDD after the installation.

Yeah I thought F8 may come into play but It would be nice to have the boot automated so its just a click instead of waiting around and repeated tapping until boot pops up. :beer:0 -
Maybe someone else will have a better suggestion.
Otherwise it looks as though you'd be best using a partitioned drive and letting Ubuntu sort out the boot sequence with its GRUB.
