Items valued at £15 or less from any other country will still be VAT exempt.
I wouldn't be surprised to find some large DVD/CD retailers start shipping from the Far East to save the 20% VAT.
Amazon will be one as their main DVD distribution centre is in the channel islands.0 -

From memory cdwow were fined £30 million for doing this.0 -

I see that there is a loophole which will be closed next year, on items sent from Channel Islands.
When I look at my various DVD deliveries from Amazon.co.uk, Play.com and HMV.com I see that these have come from Ch Isles and I have been charged VAT!
So does this mean that I have been charged VAT and that these suppliers have not paid out the VAT to the Government?!!!
Surely I can claim these VAT charges back?
I never knew of the loophole for these suppliers until the recent news.

the items are distributed from the channel islands but you are not paying a company from the channel islands0 -
Tex,
Thanks for that.
The news articles I read mentioned Amazon, HMV etc. as ones that use the loophole and it suggested the prices would therefore go up next year.
Today I received an number of DVD's from various suppliers and they all originated in the Ch. Isles.
e.g., those from Amazon are dispatched by Indigo Starfish with a postal address in Jersey!
