Hello All,
I'm a FTB, put in an offer of £174,000 on a house on at £183,950, with the plan of going up on second offer yesterday morning... Been 25 hours now and not heard anything! Going mad here! Do I call EA and harass or sit it out? Do you think it means they are seriously considering it?? How do you not think about it!!
Butterflies! Thanks in advance for any advice

I would definitely give the EA a ring to find out whether or not the vendors are interested in your offer.
EAs are a bit waffly generally, but I would also see what other info I could winkle out of them too......are there any other viewings of the house, how keen are they to sell and that sort of thing. Just to get a better picture of the situation.
PS Best to get your strength up now.......there's an awful lot of hanging around and waiting when house buying/selling. Most stressful!
PPS How do people cope? Come on here for support and a good old rant if you need to. There are a fair number of us in the selling/buying boat at the moment so we do understand how you feel!:snow_grin"Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow........":snow_grin0 -
Call them. It's no big deal. They do usually come back pretty fast, unless it's a repo or 'corporate sale', in which case they can take weeks.Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

I'd sit it out personally, they may be mulling it over and your eagerness may push them to hold out for a better offer. The EA will have passed the message on, it's up to them to decide how they want to proceed with it. If they accept, they will get back to you.
In my opinion with these things its all about who twitches first. Your an FTB and unless this house is the one you want at all costs, there are plenty of options on the market, one that you can get at the right price.0 -

I would say a slow reply is a sign that is it being seriously considered. Outright rejections tend to come back immediately.
A polite call to the EA can't hurt but it's probably a little too soon to get really wound up about it.0 -
I'd leave it until tomorrow. You don't want to appear over-keen, nor to make the sellers feel as though you are pushy.0

If it's only been 25 hours then wait it out. If it becomes 48 hours, then you might want to give them a ring to ask about the status.
I've had a rejection before that took over 24 hours. Reason being the estate agent only had a mobile number to contact the vendor on, the call went to voicemail, and the vendor didn't check their voicemail until the following day (or so said the EA)0 -
it took 2 working days (and a weekend) before my first rejection, overnight for the second:T:T  :beer::beer: to the lil one

I'm wanting to buy a home and have the money to do so. Meaning no loan process on my part. However after talking to the agent he called back and informed me that there were 2 other parties interested in buying the house.
Three FTBs competing for one house/flat at £180,000 or so......?
Now?
In this market?
C'mon....0 -

You could find a similar house being sold by the same estate agents and casually call up to arrange a viewing on it. Subtle and it might panic them slightly into thinking you're not desperate for that one, could be worth a shot maybe?~~~~~~~~~~
If you’re generally healthy and aged between 17 and 65, do something amazing....
