wow ...be very careful as they might start games with you...It is nice to see the value of your house going up'' Why ?
Unless you are planning to sell up and not live anywhere, I can;t see the advantage.
If you are planning to upsize the new house will cost more.
If you are planning to downsize your new house will cost more than it should
If you are trying to buy your first house its almost impossible.0 -
There are many buyers now chasing few houses .... and cash buyers at that - people know the bottom has long since passed.

You could find a similar house being sold by the same estate agents and casually call up to arrange a viewing on it. Subtle and it might panic them slightly into thinking you're not desperate for that one, could be worth a shot maybe?
This is what I am doing! I heard back eventually, and 2 further offers were rejected (£176,000 and £178,000) - I think the estate agent is messing with me, so I have arranged to view a number of similiar properties on with them and then I'll say actually since the vendor of the house I want wouldn't accept my offer, I am going to offer on another house in that road (there are 3 for sale in same road, 2 on with EA I am currently dealing with and 1 on with another EA) on with another EA to scare them.. If it doesn't work, well I can wait for another house.
It's time we all took a stand against the awful treatment we all get from EAs... Power to the (house buying) people

.....but not to the (house selling) people?
I'm not sure what you mean by 'awful treatment' - as far as I can see, you've made three offers since the 15th (2 days ago), and they've been rejected. Is that it?0 -
I'm not the only person in my family buying a house... So many nightmare stories and such stress when it doesn't need to be!The journey of a thousand miles starts with a single step...

I have no particular brief for EAs and some of their practices merit particular scrutiny I agree.
But you haven't described anything the EA's done wrong. It isn't the EA's decision whether to accept your offers - it's the seller's decision, whether it is a reasonable decision or otherwise.
If you start playing games you may get burnt. Don't be stupid for the sake of it. Then the EA may well start telling the seller what sort of buyer you'd be if they accepted your offer - with some justification.0
