I have this problem too. Also, here we get a packet of adverts every Saturday (under the guise of a free TV guide, it is 97% advert) and it's my weekly routine to get out all of the supermarket ones and cut out the best deals. Mind you, I will only waste time and not petrol because I only choose supermarkets in cycling distance.

My mother asked me to get her a new electric blanket last weekend. I spent about 3 hours, not only comparing makes, but working out which is the best deal (Saisburys electrical, nectar points, click & collect if you're interested).

I think I may be becoming obsessed. We can't even order a takeaway without me doing a 15 min web-check first !!!:eek:

I went out with a friend yesterday girle shopping.
While we were out we got some presents for Christmas, i mentioned that i was also looking for some new throws to go over the sofa's (nice fury type) anyway after finally finding my 'perfect' ones i proceeded to leave the shop to see if i could buy them online any cheaper!! My friend is sooooo used to me doing this .
SO GLAD I DID.
They were on half price promotion AND i found a 20% off code lurking in the discounts and codes section of MSE :rotfl:
Instead of paying £90 for 3 throws i managed to get 3 for £36.00 :T

So yeah, it does pay to shop around (and double and triple check).

Infact its become a rather embarrassing joke within the family that if ive bought something they go "go on then how much cashback did you get and what discount did you get with a code?" :o:o

It does embarrass me sometimes as people think im too cheap BUT im self employed single mum and money is tight so i have to make it stretch as much as i can!

Would be nice to be able not to have to worry sometimes though and just enjoy an impulse purchase or 2!! but never happens.

I can't go into Mr T without checking the grabbits to see if there are any glitches, youngest asks me all the time is there any and are we going to get them?

My bag is full of coupons, vouchers, code numbers for Mr T, glitches from boots, £ of x y or z, I often go into town price it all up then come back and google it and often ebay or somewhere else is cheaper than the price in town, don't think I buy anything thanks to this forum these days without handing over a bit of paper that reduces the price as well as the money:rotfl:

Now coming up to xmas practically live through the quick grabbits and follow them all it saves me a fortune:D

Haha I never buy anything on the internet now without looking at MSE, quidco or TCB I spend ages scouring the net and am currently panicing because there's some things I want to get on eBay but if I use a snipe tool then I can't get cashback on eBay!!

I've noticed that it takes me lots of time to do the grocery shopping list and we have to go to several shops to buy it.

But, I don't think about how long it takes me with regards to how much my time costs because I'm a housewife and if us housewives charged an hourly rate and got paid for it, we'd be quids in!

I see it as now we do things a bit differently. In the old days the HW would have the time to go to all the local shops, cook from scratch, spend hours cleaning and washing etc.

Now we have washing machines, tumble driers and dish washers, as well as online shopping with delivery.

But yeah, it takes ages now, although sometimes, I just buy something without checking prices just because I'm rebelling a bit and can't be a*sed to spend so long of my time.

Ah ha, Went into sainsbugs to collect the electric blanket yesterrday (quite an experience, Cust servs hadn't done a click & collect before !!).

Bought a few things - mainly just the stuff needed for Ds's home economics lesson today, came to £16 odd. When I paid I got a till spit, £7 off £70 spend. So I think this weeks shopping will include the Christmas drinks stock-up.
