Yes you would have to change address if you change ISPs. The best way to keep address is to get a free one from Gmail or Yahoo . There's loads of free ones. You can always get more with a kind word and a 2-by-4 than with just a kind word.0

I have a number of BT Internet email addresses.
You should be able to keep & maintain BT Internet email address as long as you use/changeover to a free PAYG dialup account (Pay As You Go).
You then need to access the account using the Pay As You Go dialler every 45 days to maintain it.
You may be able to do this without telling BT.
Just setup a BT Internet PAYG dialler to access internet using your email address & password.
Check following BT Internet link on how to do this.
How do I make a Pay-as-you-go internet connection?

you don't have to change email address, when switching ISPs - something that some people think is common
in order to use an existing email address, with a new ISP, all you have to do is alter the outgoing email server, to that of your new ISP
I also think that you could change your account to email only, for something like £1.50 a month if the above does not work, because you may have to sign in using BTs Pay As You Go service every so often. Orange sets the limit at 90 days... however, I have a Supanet address which i got 5 years ago, and I haven't used Supanet at all for just under 5 years.... so it does work!0 -
Thanks for all info...brain bit clearer now..many thanks for the links i will try them out.Just bit reluctant to change anything while im getting it for free!!
It is a free phone number i use to dial up bt, i just used to get charged around £10.99 a month before we moved!
im not a great user of internet so dial up speed is ok at mo..mainly addicted to MSE and Ebay.:beer:TO FINISH LAST, FIRST YOU HAVE TO FINISH....0 -
i still have an old BT email addy which i keep alive by logging in payg occasionally. It always was payg and never on broadband.
But as you are on broadband, not sure if they will just change you over to payg to keep the email address.
i can't remember where, but i'm sure i heard that BT were going to make some monthly charge to keep addresses alive when people move on.
Perhaps someone has better info?0 -
I've had a @tinyonline.co.uk address for 9 years now...they're now part of Tiscali, but I've had my internet provided by loads of different providers!!
Just change your mail settings on outlook or whatever sw you use.
I also use https://www.mail2web.com which is a useful site for accessing POP3 email accounts from any PC.0
