Mupette, not really sure what point you're trying to make but no, of course I wouldn't pay more. The point is, it's now considerably cheaper and I would like to pay less, if possible. I don't know about you but I think £150 is too much money just to let it go and I posted here to see if anyone could help - this is a money saving forum, after all.

In case this helps anyone else, I phoned Debenhams customer services this morning. They can't refund me the difference but I can reorder the table and chairs and return of the original order will be free of charge :)

Thanks for all the advice, everyone. Much appreciated :)

Sigh this is where red tape takes the mickey. It would be more economical for them as a company to not pay for the return and redelivery.

  • I agree, unholyangel; it seems strange to me that they would rather go through the rigmarole and cost of a full return/redelivery than arrange a refund - but if that's what they want then that's what I shall do! ;)
  • Rocker, thanks for your post but I am well aware of this fact. I posted here to ask if I was entitled to anything - I wasn't assuming that I automatically had the right to a full refund of the difference. If there was nothing I could do I would accept that.

All it would take is a little initiative from the person on the phone to go, speak to their manager and explain the situation.

Some people think that because they cant overrule "guidelines" in their job position, that no one can! Usually its at managers discretion and this includes call centres.

  • Unholyangel, believe it or not, she did and it was the supervisor who said no!

    Have I missed something?
One important thing to remember is that when you get to the end of this sentence, you'll realise it's just my sig.

    Author maybe deleted it?

  • Halibut, no, you didn't miss anything much - as you can see, Rocker has since deleted his/her post. To paraphrase, he/she reminded me I was happy to pay the price at the point of purchase and asked me if I would pay more if the price had gone up.

Wasnt it Muppette that asked that?
