Re Ebay -Also, how do I work out postage charges? Don't want to be unrealistic about it, but it always seems to cost more than I think it will when I post stuff to friends.
    !

Hi scrappie. As you're listing somewhere near the postage charges bit there is a 'postage estimator' that you can click. So if you just pop the item with its packaging on the scales there and then you can put the weight in the postage estimator and it tells you how much it will be for that weight etc then you can add the price to the postage cost and continue the listing for that item.
My oh my that was the most amazing cobble ever even I do say so myself.
    !

Mmmmm Ruby these are usually the tastiest meals aren't they?
Had a stressful day today and feeling a bit pants about things, so I'm going to have an early night.
Have a good weekend everyone :)
Aw slowly do take care honey.

Jeepers lola that sounds serious. Like a few of us I've done the same but slipped with slippers on and a full brew in my hand! Very painful. Make sure you have some long hot soaks in the bath to ease those muscles.

Sandra hope you're having the most wonderful weekend. You truly do deserve it!

Rising sorry to hear you're in pain again re your foot. Hope you start to feel better very soon.

It's so inspiring to read how well everyone is doing :)
Went into town today and took the game back so that refund went back into my purse. I've bought soup for work next week and granary rolls reduced which I've froze so I'm all set for my lunches at least.
Tomorrow is day 7 of my £50 week challenge and up to now I'm on track :T mainly thanks to this thread :A
    Warm hugs to everyone

Moneybear - my intention is to use up ALL of the toiletries I already have before I begin buying any more.

I got 16 shower gels for xmas - and there are 12 in the bathroom at the moment.

Very sad to say that I had a bit of a 'habit' but at least I am clean and smell minty fresh:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

So, before I go and add any cosmetics/ toiletries to the shopping list I make sure to take a good look around the house and make sure I REALLY need them. Obviously, if I run out of deodrent/ toothpaste I will buy more !

Thank you Scrappie, I understand now good idea. (stay fresh) :rotfl:

Phew! Finally caught up with the thread. My first week hasn't been organised at all as we still have guests after christmas so I've lost track a bit if exactly what has been spent (they wanted to do some shopping here, so it's been a bit spendy).
Anyway, my SIL and niece leave tomorrow and the kida are finally all back in school so everything is back to normal and I can get the decks clear.
    Trying to keep in budget.

Been breaking myself in gently this week, and doing some ground work on prices...

Flip i wish that supermarket comparision site would include the cheaper shops in there, like farmfoods, lidl's aldi, etc, as i went to booker's yesturday to bulk buy on some things...

bought a tray of giant size tinned dog food... there is a diff of 18p per tin, our dog normally eats 2 tins a day, sometimes 3 so in theory we should save min of £2.52 a week ( £131.04 a year), BUT las night he ate 3 of the new tinned dog food, and half of our normal brand:rotfl:

so we have 3 left of the new brand... and will see how many he eates tonight.... maybe he ate more as it a new brand etc... will prob go and buy some more in booker's tomorrow, and see how many he ends up eating per night, if it more than 2, then i am not saving anything, i am spending more...

we also bought 'blossom soft' loo rolls packs of 24 for £9.99 ( &vat) they were on bogof.

a tray of euro shopper baked beans were £2.94 a tray of 12, so worked out at .245p a tin

typhoo tea bags catering size bag of approx 1100 were on offer for £9.99 so works out at .009p a each:rotfl: so these should last me a day or two:D

also had some whoopsie bargins there too. had 24 large eccles cakes reduced to 5p each:T
dry roasted mulit-strip roasted peanuts 18 packs for £2.72( 15 per pack) flash marked £1.00

and packs of red/green peanut m&m's 18 tubes for £4.30 so taht makes them 24p each rrp £1.65 each

also bought a 3.5kg bread roll mix ( just add water) i have tried making bread in the passed by hand and in the bread maker, but it allways turns out naff, so i thought i might try this mix..and see how i go... if it goes well, it might give me the confidence to try making it from scratch again...

went to farmfood and got 3 loaves of bread for £2.00:T

I must admit i am feeling a bit guilty, as i do like to support local, independant shops etc... but for me to try snd save as much money as i can for my daydream fund ( which over the last year or so, it has been really hard to add to it, infact it is starting to decrease:eek:)

so over the next few weeks... the bulk buys of the offers and the whoopsie buying etc.....should start to kick in, and we will then see the benefits of the savings....over the coming months..

  • Good morning all
Yesterday I was in a very frugal mind and went for a mouch "up town", bought DD1 a coat and trainers from the CS. She'll probably hate them both (because I chose them) but coat was 7.99 and nice and warm for when the bad weather eventually comes. I don't want her to be cold and can't afford the superdry one I spotted for £150.00. To be fair to her she said that it would get nicked straight away anyway at school! The trainers were brand new CAT ones for 3.99 which I really liked. Fingers crossed anyway. If she doesn't like them the lady in the CS said I could return them so nothing lost.

Also, have now turned my attention to my ever expanding waistline. I have 56 pounds to loose!!! Have jog pants on (they fit!) and just about squeezed into my sports bra so am now off for a "run" probably be a slow sloth-like foot trail with me panting like an old dog but here goes anyway. Wish me luck. x

    Debt-free and Proud!
Had a really frugal day yesterday. Took stuff to charity shop and tip. I dried the washing on the radiators and airers. We did our supermarket shop and stuck to the list and got some good offers.

Lunch - leftovers / store cupboard. Dinner - storecupboard and less than half-price lamb chops from freezer. Made 3 portions of pork casserole for the freezer from reduced pork and a nearly OOD jar.

What I'm really pleased about is the fact that we thought we needed a new table / stand to put our TV on because our new DVD player (Christmas present), wouldn't fit on the old one. Whilst sorting out the spare room I found a table (from a charity shop), that fitted perfectly! Whilst getting the Christmas tree box out of the loft I spotted a redundant bedside lamp to replace mine that had broken a couple of days ago. Although it doesn't match the bedroom I'm happy with it - but then, OH fixed my original one!

My frugal day might not seem much to the experts but I'm dead chuffed!
