default cc settings

sorry if this has been covered elsewhere, but I couldn't find it in a search.

I'm sure I'm not the only one who gets round robins of jokes, links and warnings from friends and relatives. Apart from the annoyance I feel by the fact that people repeatedly send these things on without checking sites such as hoaxslayer, it really gets to me that my email address is broadcast to all sorts of people because a lot of people simply don't know the difference between cc and Bcc, or how to use Bcc.

Am I the only one, or do people agree that it would be prefereable that Bcc was the default setting for mail programs, without having to dig around to change the display option, or to find it in the first place. Surely this simple move would be a small step on the way to combating the huge amount of scam emails that are sent around the internet - and if others agree, isn't there a way to start a movement to persuade the big email software companies to change the default settings?

Fully agree on the BCC, people automatically believing warnings. Never believe anything in any e-mail - check it first, it is so easy.

Unfortunately the software writers do not think of these things, all e-mail programs should default to BCC and when stupid people just forward e-mails with lots of other peoples e-mail addresses on, it should advise that these should be removed, and the forward made to be BCC.

This is how your e-mail address gets harvested to spammers, it only takes one computer to have virus/malware and it harvest all those email addresses.
