I think you should follow your CPN's advice, partly because I think it will support you in being a father to your children. Although I don't agree with everything my mental health workers say to me, they do pick up when I am feeling worse. I honestly don't think they would want you in if they felt they could support you effectively in the community.
:heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. Because these weirdos are your true family.
  • Just want to send a hug John, I hope you can get the help you need, sleep on it (if you can) and post again tomorrow....

Your mental and physical wellbeing are paramount. You are obviously facing an acute crisis - pick up a phone and talk to someone...

Really hoping you have/are getting something sorted today.
  • Hi fellow MoneySavers, many thanks for your support and encouragement! today has been a good day and I've got lots of things sorted out. I have also found a property which I really like and would appreciate if you could give me your opinion on things over on my new question. I'm so glad I found this forum because you have helped me so much, thank you for that.

My nurse has mentioned amenity housing which she says I'm a priority for but I don't know anything about this and for whatever reason I don't feel able to sit just now and read things on paper, it's so much easier to read them online as I don't get agitated or stressed.

Amenity housing is housing designated usually for older people, but that is also available to people with disabilities. One of the key features is a 'panic' alarm, whereby you can contact people when you're in need of assistance for whatever reason. It's usually the step before sheltered accommodation. There are housing associations that deal in housing specifically for people with mental health conditions - I currently live in such a property and it is really helpful and empowering.
