    mr wang,
i use ryanair on a regular basis and have nothing but praise for them.
however, in regard to PB you are providing wrong information.

    from their website

    • PRIORITY BOARDING

Ryanair operates an unassigned seating policy, so specific seats cannot be pre-booked. However, we do operate a Priority Boarding system which allows passengers to board the aircraft first and choose their own seat on board. For safety reasons emergency exit seats can be occupied only by able-bodied adults.
Priority Boarding can be purchased online for all passengers booked to travel on a flight reservation for a fee of £5/€5 (or local currency equivalent) per person/per one way flight or alternatively at the airport or Ryanair call centre for £6/€6 per person/per one way flight.
Passengers with pre-booked special assistance will be boarded after general boarding is completed. Specific seats are allocated onboard the aircraft and therefore Reserved Seating or Priority Boarding should not be purchased

now you may have been exceedingly lucky on your trip and been let through the PB queue but that is definitely an unusual occurence. the check-in staff will normally check all boarding passes and reject anyone who has not paid from the PB queue.

please re read Ryanairs rules. they are very clear. PB costs money.
many people have tried to get round their rules (usually regarding carry on bags) but when you get caught you pay. Lots!

in view of their rules i think it is wrong for you to tell others that a situation exists when it clearly does not.

i do believe that ryanair used to let families with children board in the PB queue many many years ago, but this most definitely is not the case now.
even easyjet have tightened up on letting families through, introducing restrictions on age and number, because of people trying to abuse the system.

    for lkmc01
if you want PB you will have to pay for it. no question!
    check their rules.

    Jim,
You are wrong I'm afraid. An unusual occurrence is not something which repeats itself an a regular basis across a number of airlines.
The 'rules' you posted mention nothing of children and you base your argument on what you think/assume. Mine is based on experience over several years and the most recent being within the last 72 hours.

I don't have the time or enthusiasm to argue this further, but I am right. Accept it if you wish, or don't. It really doesn't bother me.

So, if you dont get 2nd in the que in terms of priority for having kids with you then what is Mr Wang on about then?

We flew to Tenerife in June with a 7 year old and we had to board with the cattle - no priorities for us!!
  • What's the rush when you have a reserved seat ?

Sit back and relax and walk on with ease when the cattle have boarded.

maybe because you travel so much you get confused about which airline offers which benefits.
i have made it clear that i was talking about ryanair, and to an extent easyjet, and not all airlines.
ryanairs policy is simple to understand -if you want priority boarding, whether you are with children or not, then everyone on that booking form must pay for PB, even children.
i notice on another thread about ryanair that you made assertions about travelling with children, and their seating arrangements, which were also proved wrong (refer to the CAA link in that thread).
while this is a great site that provides invaluable information to people, when people like you get confused, or just provide completely wrong information that they present as facts, i get annoyed because you could cost these members either major inconvenience or worse money.
please read ryanairs t&cs and stop providing misguided information as fact.

Jim, you are probably one of those people that think Ryanair are the root if all evil because the Sun told them so. In fact, you've probably never even flown Ryanair, I have, many times and every single time I've had kids with me I've boarded first, without trouble.
The most recent was Sunday night from Katowice, Poland to Manchester and the woman was going through the people at the gate suggesting those with children join the queue for priority boarding.
Now, you don't have to believe that, you don't even have to change your view on Ryanair (which I believe to be an excellent airline) but the fact is it is true.

So to the poster that asked about priority boarding with a child - no, you will be able to board first anyway.

Mr W - Why worry about priority boarding anyway - as you seem to do and obviously make sure you are boarded first with your kids? As you quite eloquently stated on another thread:

Who gives a s*** where you sit. You all get there at the same time.

Indeed you do - irrespective of whether you have kids or priority boarding!

On Ryanair to Tenerife? Is it even possible to have reserved seats on that route with that airline?
Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?

Yes, Stansted to Tenerife South is one of the routes on which they offer reserved seating.
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)
