  • I have on my desk in front of me the TAPA Recovery and Collections
    'Letter Before Action'
    Would appreciate any guidance as to how to proceed.
    I feel like getting litigious - but cant afford it.
    Any advice gratefully received

    Did you originally contact them re. nuisance calls or confuse them with the TPS free service?
    Based upon the experiences of others and myself, they are unlikely to pursue it. I could put you in touch with someone from Trading standards in Cheshire who helped/advised me. Send me a private email if you want these details.

    I am in the same situation having paid a year to TAPA and now they are on the phone for me to renew. Not sure what to do and they are calling back on Monday to see what I have decided. One part of me says not to renew and then I don't want the bother of them constantly calling or threatening me. They are always friendly. I to had the problem of giving to a charity to help school safety and then had loads of other charities on the phone. Once bitten! Did not realise TAPA would come along, are they really as bad as everyone makes out?

    They are only friendly if they get their own way. i can't personally comment on the charity scam claims as I had nothing to do with them but my experience of TAPA was 100% negative

    Good God. Are you seriously saying, you're frightened to exercise your freedom of choice????

    If you don't want to renew, then don't.

    If this ludicrous bunch of wannabe lawyers seek to pressure you *after* you have ended your contractual relationship with 'em, then tell 'em you have referred TAPA to the OFT on the grounds of a serial breach of the Protection from Harassment Act 1997.

    And remember: despite its quasi-judicial pretensions, this is no more an "agency" than the corner shop newspaper vendor.

    Interesting. But are you sure it's a name change? Couldn't another prestigious firm of highly experienced practitioners have decided to follow the team at TAPA and create a rival outfit that might even out-match TAPA in legal acumen and sheer cerebral capacity? Then again, then again. .

    CCPS UK's website is as illiterate as it gets -- "About us: CCPS are a leading company" (er no, dear, not unless you're schizophrenic; CCPS is a leading company); and:

    "This service is a much needed and vital role" (sorry, but: a service isn't a role. It can play a role though. Much like scumbag scammers play the role of being legit);

    "Our Services: an introduction into some of the things we can do for your business?" (Pity that one of the things you can't do is manage the use of English. An introduction into. . .? And, on the subject of question marks, why are you questioning your own Services??? Don't you know what they're supposed to be?);

    "We remain the only cold calling service who tackles the cold calling industry". (Must be a one-man band, then, if that's who is singlehandedly tackling that nasty naughty industry.)

    "Cold and nuisance calls: we understand how annoying and cost effective they can be -- " (What: someone will find them cost-effective and annoying? Or perhaps the calls are actually an annoyance at the cost of someone's time and wellbeing?) -- "heres how we can help?" (Er, who is this chap Heres and why does he want to help? Then again, why is Heres asking himself if he can help?)

    Somehow, for some reason, one does have to wonder if the picnic on offer here is short of a few sandwiches.

    ;)

    Hi
    I've had the same problem as most here. I've been to my local CAB and they said to log a complaint. At the link below, hopefully if enough people complain something will get done.

    The link is to adviceguide.org.uk

    You might also wish to drop a line to the Editor of The Daily Mirror, to place on record your disappointment that thanks to its so-called 'investigative' activity, the endorsement which the Mirror's amateur journalists gave to TAPA is very much a principal plank of TAPA's advertising and promotions.

    Well done, Daily Mirror!
