It would seem that people are too frightened of repercussions to post on this site. If you have had problems go to the whocallsme site and enter their phone number (given 3 posts back by Dimar). This site is into its 24th page and has lots of stories from people who've been taken in and their advice on dealing with the company. There are a lot of unhappy people!
I just found something interesting on the web re how to check if VAT numbers are correct.....
Tapa's VAT Reg Number is 108 4413 38 this is how you check that it's genuine.....
CHECK VAT NUMBER TO MAKE SURE IT'S VALIDVAT registration is not valid if the VAT number is not correct!
It is possible to check whether a VAT registration number shown on an invoice is valid. This is important because the purchaser cannot recover VAT incorrectly charged by an unregistered trader unless Customs & Excise allow them to do so by concession. Therefore, registration numbers should be tested as follows:- The first seven digits of the VAT registration number are listed vertically.
- Each digit is multiplied by a number, starting with 8 and decreasing to 2.
- The sum of the multiplications is calculated.
- 97 is subtracted from the sum as many times as is necessary to arrive at a negative number.
- The negative number should be the same as the last 2 digits of the VAT registration number if it is valid.
ExampleVAT registration number 339 0727 473 *8 = 24
3 *7 = 21
9 *6 = 54
0 *5 = 0
7 *4 = 28
2 *3 = 6
7 *2 = 14Total = 147147 - 97 = 50 - 97 = - 47As the negative number(- 47) is the same as the last two digits of the VAT number, the number is valid.
Why not spend a couple of moments to do the maths the above is an example tapa's Vat reg number appears not to follow this rule maybe they have made a mistake on the website?
I leave you all to make your own minds up on this one
The VAT reg number for Tapa is at the bottom of their home page0 -
It really ought to be an offence under civil law for any commercial outfit ostensibly specialising in consumer protection to call itself an "agency" when it knows full well that such a term has the potential to mislead someone into thinking they're dealing with a statutory body.
The "Advertising Protection Agency" would be well advised to look how best to protect itself against complaints of, er, misleading advertising. . .;)0 -

the one for the number is still there on whocallsme and is going strong.
I don't know the real facts but there certainly seem to be alot of strong discussions going on there.0 -
I can't get on to who calls me too. Found out something a little odd Re TAPA Vat code and can't post on there so it's on here instead :-)
WCM site is back up and running :-)0 -
I just opened the site and it gave the unavailable error, I hit refresh and it loaded so they could just be having a bit of a busy period.0

Last week we had to change our phone numbers, landline and mobile because of calls from a person called Daniel form TAPA, demanding payment to cancel the contract.
We stupidly signed up 2 years ago, only for one year, and a one off payment (big mistake). Out of the blue were started getting menacing calls from this person at least 3 times a day, in some of the calls, he sounded drunk. We reported this to TS, but have not heard back as yet.0 -
Sometimes whocallsme seems to crash - it's never for long though. I'm sure that nobody can get this (WCM) thread closed like they did on this site. And the only reason your posts would be blocked is if they were offensive or abusive or, as in my case, if somebody publishes something like your name and address without your consent.0
