    It depends on how badly damaged the walls are but the best technique I have is to use easi fil (product name not poor spelling, lol) and a caulking paddle. The reason I prefer this option is that it does not need to go on absolutely perfect as you can easily sand it down afterwards (unlike plaster) to give you a smooth finish. My personal opinions of the ready mixed "miracle cures" is that they are over priced and from my own experience, I tend to find they dont flow as well as I'd like. A big bag of easi fil is about £10 for a 10kg sack.
