Xbox kinect or ps3

I am a total technophobe (although ok at computer). My daughter wants a xbox kinect or PS3 for xmas, please help?? which one is better? and if i get an xbox do i need a memory of 250 or can it be 4?? Any advice would be very much appreciated,

re cost of xbox live, if you search the net you can find cheaper deals for the years subscription, ive bought subs for about £32 before, you can also buy 1 or 3 month subs so if she only wants to play say the odd month then she can do so. Also id reccommend not linking a credit card to the account.
