My dad (who to his mortal embarrassment succumbed to this a few months ago) was telling me today he was woken up a few days ago at 6.30am with a call from a similar operation. You'd think they'd at least find out what time of day it was in the country they were trying to scam!!0

They would have asked you to type Ipconfig to get your IP Address, and then got you to turn on remote assist, got into Msconfig and set your system to keep booting into safe mode, demand £300 and in the process get your card details and possibly copy your address book in Outlook to get some valid email addresses.
Next time just tell them you not understanding the english you are calling stockholm... and the washing machine is working vell....
That should confuse em.My Mind wanders, if found please return.0 -

That's the second time you've posted this 'fact'.
I've never seen an IP address in ipconfig, mine is definitely not there, but I've seen the address given out by the router, in my case 10.0.0.7.Move along, nothing to see.0 -

Yes, that's my IPv4 address, I just wonder why 'they' would need that to connect to your pc?
I don't need it to remote into my lickle webserver from the work PC. I just need the internet address and port number.Move along, nothing to see.0 -
Oh dear, someone doesn't understand IP addresses...
10.x.x.x is the IP(v4, yes) address of your PC on the LAN (local network) for which the router is in charge of.
The IP address of your router (the WAN IP address) is also an IPv4 address, and might be something like 54.73.62.123, and you're right that is the one that someone would need to get remote access to your PC.
But they are both IP address, and they are both IPV4 addresses.
HTH!
