Expect multiple calls too, often a couple of minutes apart and being sarcastic too.

I just tell them I haven't got a PC, then they will ask if you have a laptop:rotfl::rotfl:

As long as you haven't given them remote access don't worry. the error messages they got you to reveal happen as a matter of course.

How would they get remote access?

As I said before he got me to press the Microsoft symbol key and the r key together, which brought up the run box - that wouldn't give him access would it? It's all a bit worrying.

Have just checked telephone and under missed calls there was the following number:

    0203 0266 482

I dialled it and got through to PC Wizard, which is the company that phoned. It was a message saying the call would be transferred to somebody who could help:eek::eek:

What you did won't have given somebody access to your computer, so worry not.
Let them call you and just tell the caller where to go with his scam - or say "just a minute while I start my computer" and lay the phone down while you get on with what you were doing. He'll go away eventually, but at least you've delayed him pestering someone else.:)

So the only way they can get access to your computer is to send you to a particular website and download something?

Honestly what a bunch of B *** ards - why do these people have to ruin the Internet and scare the wits out of you?

They never ring me, not that I answer the phone anways.

But if I did, I would tell them I just switched on my computer and its sitting there saying

    "(c) 1982 Sinclair Research"

and the K cursor is flashing, and ask them what to do next with my zx81.

I think I will just ignore the telephone when he calls back and keep on ignoring it unless it is a number I recognize.

    No.

They will often tell you your address too - makes you wonder where they get your telephone data from.

Well he has been phoning back every day a few times per day, but I just ignore it and as soon as the answerphone cuts in he hangs up.

Hopefully he will get fed up and stop ringing.
