Help with new sky contract

I am about to subscribe to Sky - including broadband, phone and HDTV. Do you have to have a sky box for every TV in the house (we have 4) and can diference programmes be watched on each TV?
And what happens to my Humax HD box - will it still work (without a sky box attached) off our existing digital aerial?
Sorry but I am much confused and must seem rather thick!!
Thanks.
Sally

If you want Sky on every TV in the house you can either take out Multiroom which is an extra £10 per month per room and the cost of the box(es) or you can set up a TV Link option which effectively shares the channel being watched on the main TV to the others but obviously does not allow you to watch different channels on different TVs.

Assuming your Humax box is a digital terrestrial receiver then it will continue to work as normal as Sky does not use the aerial feed.

There is no such thing as a 'digital' aerial. You have an aerial. You can still view Freeview HD through that feed using the Hummy.
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)

I've just read some awful reviews of the Sky+ box. Is this really the case or is it just that the people with problems or faulty boxes are more likely to review?

I have a sky+HD box and have never experienced any trouble in the 3 years that I have owned it.

Some people do have problems with it, although most problems are reported on Thomson boxes which aren't usually given to new customers anymore.

I've had no real problems with my boxes. The occasional failed recording is about as bad as it gets for me.

I think you're right in saying that people are far more likely to complain about something than they are to praise something. My Sky boxes, the vast majority of the time, do the job that I expect them to do so I don't say anything about them really - but when a box fails some people are going to be very annoyed and take to the Internet to voice their discontent.

On the whole, Sky are successful because they provide what they do. If box faults occur they are generally dealt with. Recently, Sky rolled out a new service called Anytime+ and discovered that they were unable to update the software on some of their boxes to get this to operate - they simply sent out replacement boxes to everybody who would be affected by the problem, including people who had never shown an interest in Anytime+ and were unaware that there was any problem.

Thanks, very reassuring because I have just ordered the full package (to get the M&S voucher plus quidco hopefully!).
