  • Ask which member of staff last performed the long life code check on that product - it is one of their daily procedures - and ask them to account for their actions.;)
Some poor member of staff get thier bits chopped off!

It's also the reason why nobody will want to bother attempting to take any action against Tesco as they can simply use the Tesco Supermarkets v Nattrass defence, employing incompetent people allows them to get away with an awful lot of things.

Most supermarket packaging has changed in 3 years. Plus if you buy that product regularly, alarm bells should have rung in your head when you saw something in old packaging.

When I do put delivery out, I always put the new stuff at the back - even to take off 50 packs of biscuits then put the stuff back so the packets with the shortest date are at the front. Many colleagues shove it on the front as its just pure laziness. Then if you go to most supermarkets 'tat' area with things amongst the dented tins, multipacks of Coke with a can missing, you generally see things such as biscuits, crisps and other products with a medium shelf life with a few months in there because the bb date is end of the month.

Even if the packaing has changed, it doesn't always change so significantly that you could instantly know it was out of date: most of the time it doesn't fade or have a red flashing banner to say its out of date.

And you sound like you do a very good job, if I could point you in the direction of my local Tesco? I think they need some sensible staff! (witnessed tonight older produce being pushed backwards on the shelf to allow the new stuff to sit in front...)
