My 15 year old wants a tablet (actually she wants an ipad but she aint getting one!!!!)
Not knowing much about them I have got it down to 2 (if anyone can recommend other ones I would be really grateful)
They are -

or
http://www.kogan.co.uk/shop/10-inch-tablet-pc-android/
are they any good? I dont want to spend a lot of money to get a duff one - is worth getting the slightly dearer one?
Thanks

I dont know, but these reviews might help you decide:

Personally I don't see too much value in getting a cheap android tablet but if I had to choose between these two I would probably go for the Kogan 10 as it's running the slightly more advanced 2.3 version of android. I did find a review of the Kogan - http://www.gizmodo.com.au/2011/10/exclusive-kogan%E2%80%99s-new-10%E2%80%9D-agora-tablet/ which raises a few questions but at this price point I think you're always going to have a few issues with reliability.0

Have you established that your 15 year old would be happy with another kind of tablet?
If an iPad is what they want but not what they're getting (and I'm totally with you, my 15 year old isn't getting one either) then you might be better getting something else entirely.
I clearly remember asking for a Chopper bike at that age. I got a pink shopping bike with a basket. I never rode it. It sat in the shed and eventually my parents got rid of it (after I left home).
I also wanted a particular brand of jeans one birthday. I got a pair of jeans but not the ones I wanted. Never wore them.
If my parents couldn't afford (or weren't going to buy for whatever reason) the particular thing I wanted I would preferred to have had something completely different.
My DD wanted an iPod a couple of years ago. No other mp3 player would do, it had to be an iPod. (She didn't get one.)
Not saying your 15 year old is anything like I was at that age, but most teenagers want the specific thing that they have their heart set on. (That's a whole different debate)
It's just that its alot of money to spend on something thats not what they really want.2.22kWp Solar PV system installed Oct 2010, Fronius IG20 Inverter, south facing (-5 deg), 30 degree pitch, no shadingEverything will be alright in the end so, if it’s not yet alright, it means it’s not yet the endMFW #4 OPs: 2018 £866.89, 2019 £1322.33, 2020 £1337.07

Maplin have the Arnova 10 G2, slightly different model to the carphone one, has 4gb memory and runs 2.3 gingerbread. Have used it quickly, nice responsive screen, movies look great on it. The build quality is a lot better than most of the cheap tablet's . Uses it own AppLib to download the apps though
No idea on the Kogan.Mansion TV. Avoid at all cost's :j0 -
Hi - thanks for all the replies and suggestions - the review website was great - I know what you mean about teenagers! but bless her, she knows an ipad is out of the question and she has been looking up these things herself to buy with money she gets from relatives (I may not be techy but I can manage to look at her history! lol) She also knows our money situation and the dearest thing she asked for on her wish list was a £20 wii game! i would just love to see her face on Christmas day if I could manage one of these.Kondo'ed 76 items from wardrobe, 4 carrier bags of books0

Ah bless her, in that case I'm sure she'll be thrilled with whatever you choose.:)2.22kWp Solar PV system installed Oct 2010, Fronius IG20 Inverter, south facing (-5 deg), 30 degree pitch, no shadingEverything will be alright in the end so, if it’s not yet alright, it means it’s not yet the endMFW #4 OPs: 2018 £866.89, 2019 £1322.33, 2020 £1337.07

Would you consider a finance option for the ipad?0

I have my eye on this if I can save the money up for it... laptop is on it's last legs and being stuck in the house for long periods of time - illness - the net is my lifeline! Not sure exactly about the technical aspects other than looking for a capacative screen but the review look good.

have you thought about getting an iPod touch instead it is the same price as those tablets you have linked to and you find deals with free speaker docks (think HMV and currys have them atm)
reason I say get an ipod touch instead is because it is exactly the same as an ipad just in a smaller screen, it will surf the web the same, facetime, imessage, apps, ect. ect. and it is right at your price point.0 -
I can heartedly recommend the Arnova 10 G2 mentioned above
The best 10" budget tablet I've tried to date
You can still get a new 16GB HP Touchpad on ebay for around £150 too0
