Returned item is lost, paypal dispute
Comments
-
Go back into the dispute & say that RM have tried to deliver, the case should then be closed in your favour.
I have contacted paypal and now have my money back.
Only problem is does the red bit I wrote about Royal mail mean the seller refused to sign for it?
Thanks everyone for the help.0 -

Yes, but for a return that doesn't matter as all ebay or paypal need to see is that seller had the opportunity to accept the return but refused. If the item comes back to you now then the polite thing to do , now you have the refund, is to inform seller that item is available for them if they send a pre stamped box or bag for its return.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. No - Soolins wrong. They dont leave a while you were out card when you are in. That writing is now the norm when someones out - its recently been re-worded.
The item is at the delivery office specified. If its not collected - it will be returned to you - if you put your address on. If not - it goes to Ireland, and is destroyed if not claimed.0 -

Either way, soolins advice is spot on.
All the returnee needs to show is delivery/attempted delivery or refusal.
That is enough for the refund.
No need to split hairs on what the card means.....by the way, they DO leave a card when you are IN.....they don't always give you time to get to the door....or knock to say they are there!0 -
I posted a car amplifier (sold for £30, value to me £100) and they lost it.
Wrote to them, filled the form in, and they gave me a book of stamps!!
WHy not the £100? Or at very least £46?
If you posted something that was over the value of £46 then you should have sent it special delivery, you were lucky to get anything back as you used the wrong postal method. If you told them the value was only £30 then, that's what would be covered.
The red part does mean that according to the postman, that they have attempted a delivery to the address and left a card for the recipient to collect it. As Paypal only require a delivery attempt then this would be sufficient, if he doesn't collect it then it will wing it's way back to you after 21 days. If no return address it will go to Belfast where items are stored for a while before being auctioned off. They do a bit of detective work trying to find the senders before this process starts, including matching items to calls about missing items, opening items to see if there's an address of sender inside etc etc.4 Stones and 0 pounds or 25.4kg lighter :j0 -

If you could only sell it for £30, why on earth should Royal Mail pay more for it? If you'd bought it for £30 and sold for £100 you would have more of an argument.
You should have got the £30 you sold it for back & the postage costs. Did you include the ebay invoice as proof of your loss?0 -

Its what the op asked - would you prefer i lie? They already have the refund and wondered where the item might be.
The item is at the delivery office - which means it may be collected, may be returned - or may be destroyed. Thats not splitting hairs - its a fact. If you have nothing better to do - whay not answer a question that needs answering - instead of splitting hairs yourself.0 -

Where did I say that? No. I said don't split hairs. Whether or not, the question the OP wants to know as per the OP is.....If the seller never gets the item back will I loose my money? No - Soolins wrong. No, as I said. Your advice was wrong. And was splitting hairs!0 -

Clever edit. But a clever man would know..... It doesn't matter where the item is. Delivery, attempted delivery or a refusal is enough.
It may even be destroyed, but that is irrelevant to the OP.
