Few questions on leaving Cable Virgin Media?

I would be getting new BT Line, and can I transfer my VM land phone number to BT, (any extra costs)?
What is the current notice period of leaving VM (30 days)?
Do I phone up VM or letter or do both?
How do I send my modem and old tv box to? Give it to shop?
I would be leaving VM after 3 years, as they are expensive compared to others.
As there any negative comments about BT anytime phone?
Thanks

You can port your VM number to BT but I would get your new provider to arrange it, rather that calling VM ceasing your service with them and then asking BT, when BT confirm everything is in place you can then call VM to make sure they are going to export the number on the day BT give you as the install date...no idea about handing back VM's kit, you will have to ask them, and VM's telephony charges are considered to be expensive compared to other telco's judging by many comments on this site but if you take BT Anytime its mobile calls and 0844 type calls that would be chargable 01.02.03 , 0870 & 0845 are inclusive0

Contact VM,they'll send you a pre paid jiffy bag.Make sure you get a receipt of postage as they've been known to chase boxes a few years later.0
